Sarasota County Crime "IS" on the Rise

I always love it when Tom Knight and Kurt Hoffman tell you that crime is decreasing on a 22% downward slope since 2009. In some ways this can be perceived as a true statement, but it is like saying a used police car only has 170,000 actual miles. We all know that engine has been running day and night for 10 years at idle. Yea it reads 170,000 and that is true but most know the real story.
If you study the FBI's website you will see that crime is changing not necessarily decreasing. According to the Sarasota Sheriff's Office own website, there has been a 100% increase in Fraud since Tom Knight Took office. 100% that is just plain old lazy ass police work Tom and Kurt. If you were a football coach you would have been fired long ago. In 2009 there were a total of 524 fraud cases reported and as of Nov 2019 there are 931 to date reported as of Nov 2019. Those numbers are under the watchful leadership of Kurt Hoffman and Thomas Knight. Where will fraud be in 2020? I bet if Hoffman is elected it will be even worse. Fraud is a out of control crime in Sarasota that must be addressed immediately before it gets worse. Arrest must be made and cases must be prosecuted.
Please don't let Tom or Kurt get away with telling you that crime is down.

On a final note the FBI reports that the way and frequency in which citizen report crime is changing too. Most citizen when surveyed informed the FBI that they lack trust in Law Enforcement and in most cases just simply do not report crimes.
(increasing violent crimes) The FBI also uses a term now called the Ferguson Effect where as police are much less likely to engage in proactive policing based on backlash from internal leadership and community. When officers do not proactively make arrest then criminals are left to rule the streets. Time for a new Sheriff.

    Talking Why doesn't ILP work?

You are correct: Knight's Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) does not work because it's a word-game and numbers-game gimmick. In lay terms, it's crap, but in Knight's presentation, ILP is his gift to humanity.

Crime rises and falls nationally and statewide, based on many different factors, such as unemployment levels and early prison releases of recidivists (a sheriff has absolutely no control over that).

For example, one local kid can burglarize 20 different parked cars in one night --- or he can burglarize 20 different houses or parked boats at a yard or whatever. That one kid skews local numbers --- and ILP does not and cannot address that. ILP is only good in a densely populated place, such as New York City. ILP is useless in unincorporated Sarasota County.

As they say in FHP: "Two per hour." Just write X number of tickets to keep everybody happy. That's the FHP way --- and it's also the SSO way.
