There should be a collection taken via paycheck donations to collect a few bucks so some of you dumb rednecks can buy a decent meal at McDonald's once in a while when you are out of cash. You waste your money on truck payments, scratch off tickets, cheap beer and strip joints that's why you never have any.

Not true at all, do your research. The next largest agencies in the county take time to max out in steps, less time to reach retirement, and pay at every rank is significantly higher, even with pension contributions. Equipment/ vehicles/ self-purchase items are at least equivalent. We need to catch up and hopefully get legislation for a 25 year retirement so us who started in our 30’s don’t have work through our 60’s.

Take the investment plan and retire whenever you feel like it. This way you control your money not the FRS. Set some of your own money aside too. Several people retired this way and now they work part time security guards to supplement their incomes. G4S is always hiring. Talk to them and they will give you the details.

And Tampa pays 13% into their pension. Have to look at the whole package. PCSO is not underpaid and we are competitive.

You also do not know what you're talking about. They normally pay 7-9% into the pension, depending on the year. TPD does not have to pay for social security or health insurance for themselves, just family. That's about a $5000/year savings right there.
