Stop for a moment and think...

Active shooting scenario indicates and by training mandates that we are to engage the subject who is actively shooting and stop it, so if we go inside a school to confront a shooter who is actively shooting and by shooting at the subject we miss and kill one or more kids....... then what?!?!?! We are not to wait, we are not to wait and call for a hostage negotiator because we are told that in an active shooting scenario we are to engage in order to minimize casualties and eliminate the thread, if we take a look at what took place at the UPS truck incident we can see the criminals actively shooting placing not only the hostage in eminent danger but other civilians including the officers. The only problem I see here is Society.

Hard to Monday night quarterback this incident
Why? Because none of us were there and had the information the officers had

What if the officers would have stayed back and the offenders would have started shooting the innocent? There would have been an outcry and protest to hang the officers for not taking action.

There could have been a better strategy in place but like the last minute championship buzzer 3 point shot your dam if you do dam if you don’t

Don't mix apples and oranges !!! The vehicle stop! They knew it was a hostage situation. Fall back and maintain cover. No need to run up and engaged! That is not how a felony stop is done. Innocent people were killed and it could have been way more hurt.

Thats why you have swat teams on duty!

Luckily for Colina that this incident involved metro Dade County PD and not city officers.

You have two armed criminals shooting at you and not only endangering your life but the life of citizens in the immediate area, if you hide and take cover you should be arrested for being a COWARD and I really hope you are not a police officer. This criminals could have easily kill more people and hold more victims hostage, get out of here with that nonsense and that coward behavior AH. An active shooter is an active shooter and the place itself don’t dictate the definition of an active shooter, if the perpetrator is actively shooting it must be dealt with in an attempt to stop the thread and in order to “minimize or to stop the killing of more innocents” the officer dealt with the inmenent threat they had in front of them and the concequences of their actions were dictated by the criminals who were stopped and because of the glorious acts of those officers we didn’t have more casualties. I don’t foresee anybody getting in trouble because the officers acted good and their response was necessary. Move on next...

Pit maneuver not allowed. Well, the first moment the UPS truck was on an open highway with no one around, maybe a pit maneuver would've been just the thing to slow it down enough for the UPS guy to bail out

I am hoping u are not a cop 🙏🏻, you can’t do a pit maneuver to a vehicle that’s actively shooting at you 🤦🏻*♂️.

Ok, so let me understand what you are proposing , there's two active shooters in progress that already had shot a victim in the head , kidnapped and car jack a vehicle while fleeing and kept shooting throughout the whole incident then suddenly because traffic stops the vehicle comes to a stop in the middle of traffic with cars around and you are proposing instead of neutralizing the threat to stay back and wait one to two hours to assemble a team and get an on call hostage negotiator to tell two career criminals that already made up their minds not to go back to prison that everything is going to be ok, in the mid time they will exit the vehicle car jack another car and shoot someone else while you wait sir.

Yeah! Oh better yet lets open up on the truck and kill everyone including the innocent ups driver and the guy sitting inside his car.

Maybe next time it will be you sitting on a car next to a police shooting.

YOU ARE EITHER NOT A COP OR A COMPLETE MORON... THE ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING, PROVIDED BY MPD WAS VERY CLEAR TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN AN ACTIVE SHOOTER vs. A HOSTAGE / BARRICADED SITUATION ! These cops rushed the damn car...like every other failed felony stop EVER PREFORMED in South Florida. You dumb M-F ‘ers consistently turn felony stops into a damn race! Why? Then try to justify your actions later by saying you were trying to clear out citizens???? WHAT A BUNCH OF BS! I saw not one citizen removed from the scene. Instead I saw multiple dumb cops charging the truck and USING VEHICLES FULL OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS AS A SHIELD. IN ONE CASE THE COPS WERE TELLING THE CAR THEY WERE HIDING BEHIND TO ROLL FORWARD... TOWARDS THE TRUCK. This may have been a legal police shooting... but it was some of the worst tactics, driven by broken protocol and a complete disregard for department orders and mission, of safeguarding the public. The tactics seen in that video fly completely in face of what we have been trained to do. This is the scenario the trainers warn against IN EVERY DAMN CLASS... you set out to go find the devil and then find yourself unprepared when he fights back! Why are we rushing felony stops... AND NOW THIS DUMB **** TRYING TO COMPARE A FELONY STOP WITH AN ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT???? Embarrassing.... just completely embarrassing!

Or better yet let’s use civilian stuck in traffic as human shields to violate our departments policy and put both their lives and ours in danger.
