What happened to MDPD?

What happened to mdpd was an u qualified director who never earned rank above captain. His lack of experience judgement is quite evident here at mdpd. In my 25 plus years this is the worst morale and worst production weve had. We use to be proud to say we work here no mas no mas!!!

Absolutely! He was purposely put there by Gimenez who wanted a person who would be a hatchet, not a leader. Thats what we got.

Regrettably, MDPD began its decline with Carlos Alvarez and became progressively worse with Carlos Gimenez. We hope, most County voters re-elect Alex Penelas. As Dade's Strong Mayor, many of us are hoping, Penelas will appoint a police director that will bring back the Integrity it once had under Fred Taylor. Sadly, Bovo would be the same Gimenez' dog but with a different collar, perhaps more venal than Gimenez. Xavier Suarez, unfortunately, has not yet gotten the memo, advising him that his days to be elected Dade's Mayor have long passed. Daniella Levine Cava or Jean Monestime each has as much chance of being elected Dade's Mayor as Xavier Suarez. Should one pull a miracle, their liberal, soft on crime positions, would turn Dade into another Chicago, Philadelphia, or even closer to home, Miami Gardens; that is Killing Fields. Do you think it's bad now?

The years between 2020 and 2024, when voters will elect Dade's first Sheriff since 1967, will be crucial. Whoever Penelas appoints will be charged with the responsibility of assessing MDPD, changing whatever must be, and establishing a model that will allow the transitional to the elected Sheriff structure to be as seamless as humanly possible. Not a job for a wannabe "Postalita" or an out of Dade County candidate, with no experience in policing our County nor knowledge of its diversity and history.

When Dade's Mayoral Elections rolls around, vote wisely; as wisely as we hope your will for the next elected Sheriff.

MDPD was destroyed by this director. His promotional choices have all been based on the Family and Friends mentality. His best friend was promoted from Sergeant to some new secret position that no one has ever had in the past. He now is higher than a Major overnight.

Let’s see how blatant he can be. Did his girlfriend get a second interview? I would bet she did and her promotion is probably coming soon.
