MPD Black Male Officers of the MCPBA Have Screwed Themselves

The MPD’s history of Black male Officer’s with concerns over their status and promotions are more more than 80 years old. A simple trip to the Black Police Officers museum at 480 NW 11 Street will quickly give you the facts.

Even though in the 1940’s Chief Walter Headley was the first southern police chief to opened up a police department to Black Officers, which was very progressive at the time under segregation restrictions, fair hiring satisfaction for decades was a slow process.

In the 1970’s the Black male officers hit a home run when they won promotions, back pay and future commitments that also included years of affirmative action hiring and promotions. The affirmative action promotions were highly beneficial to the Black male Officers, but the Government added to the promotions Hispanic (Cubans mostly) and females. The added groups were very upsetting to the Black Male Officers of the 1970’s and into the 1980’s. The entire affirmative action demands were also unfair to non-minority’s Officers.

Now we have a small group of Black male Police Officers, who represent the Miami Community Police Benevolent Association, our Black Officers organization, ranting that Chief Colina is not promoting enough Black male officers to Staff. They are completely discounting the recent promotion of a Black female to staff.

This stupid position of the Black male police officers is going to be a big loser for the Black Officers across the board. If you look at the increasing numbers, Black female officers are increasing their numbers at every academy class and promotion cycle over Black male officers. Another fact is Black female officers are generally smarter, study harder and have shown to be do very well with getting promoted.

The Black female officers are going to get even for this back stabbing by Black male officers. In the future Black female officers will continue to do well with getting promoted and Black male officers will not keep pace.

The Black male officers responsible for this irresponsible situation should be ashamed of themselves and they have done great harm to the MC-PBA reputation.

When Will MPD Black Females Speak Up?

So far only Black male officers are standing up......where are the Black females? Common sense would dictate they should have their own press conference to respond to the Misogyny by the leadership of the MCPBA?
