Cool Gun Control: Easy as 1, 2, 3?

    THEORY:

    1. The only way to reduce gun deaths is to make it illegal for all people in the United States to own or possess guns.
      .
    2. Exceptions for gun possession should be made for government officers, but only during the performance of their lawful duties. Military police are required to turn in their guns to a local government armory, after the end of their shift. Civilian police should do the same. For example, look at what this intoxicated off-duty Florida sheriff's deputy did with his gun: https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...xoy-story.html
      .
    3. Gun free zones, such as Chicago, Washington DC and Mexico cannot be made safer until everyone is lawfully disarmed throughout the United States because guns from other surrounding states (where guns are still legal) are flooding into those gun free jurisdictions. Dangerous cities like Chicago and Washington DC cannot be made safer, until all people are lawfully disarmed throughout the United States.

Is that how the theory works?

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. When the cure for man's violence against his fellow man is found, on that day you can have my guns.

For the record, my sidearm post military service saved my life and many others, when an armed home invader came to visit. Having a sidearm saved lives.

Lightbulb Taxation on guns & ammo forces gun stores out of business

    • $25 tax on firearms
    • 2-cent tax per bullet on .22 caliber or smaller
    • 5-cent tax per bullet on larger ammo

Some gun shops in Tacoma say they’ll be forced to close as a result of the tax. It’ll make them unable to compete. “We will close the doors.”

Tacoma’s ordinance says, in part: “Revenue generated from this tax will be used to offset the cost of gun violence on our community.”

There has been no decrease in crime since Seattle’s gun tax went into effect three years ago. In addition to the tax, Seattle has also held gun buybacks to reduce gun violence.

Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.

That mentality goes along the lines of strict gun ownership laws yet there is no reduction in the shootings in Chicago, The crappy Apple a.k.a. New York or the land of fruits and nuts a.k.a/ California. This will do nothing to stop gun violence and or ownership, just a way to try and put small business owners with legal and legitimate businesses rgar disagree with the liberal/socialist agenda.

In regard to the very first post in this thread: Yes, that's how the theory is supposed to work, but gun confiscation is based on a distrust of the people. Conversely, the founding fathers of the United States distrusted the government, which is why they created the 2nd Amendment (and the Bill of Rights).

The United States Constitution was an experimental form of government. The Bill of Rights gives governance and Constitutional equality to the people, instead of to the government. Constitutional self-governance was a brand new form of government that had never been tried previously (although the Magna Carta was a good start). The American Constitution is an elected form of governance that is:
    - of the people
    - by the people
    - for the people

Socialism and Communism centralizes political, economic and military power into the hands of a few elite rulers because in that form of government, the people cannot be trusted with self-governance, which is why Communism does not allow the people to be armed with guns.

You are blessed to have been born into the American Constitutional form of self-governance. That is all you have known since your birth. Can you keep it? The world is watching.

In this 27-minute video, Newt Gingrich explains the "context" of why the framers of the Constitution created the 2nd Amendment for citizens to be able to possess guns:

    (it's well worth the listen)
