Apparently he’s not done with this administration. Keep up the good fight.

    The Hearald Tribune Today

Do you believe the Herald Tribune adheres to the same founding principals of journalism?

While many journalists may cringe at the insinuation, unfortunately most media outlets today operate more like a for profit business than the original journalistic principles of reporting the unbiased, unregulated truth. The diehard journalists who work/worked for media outlets biased by their corporate owners, unfortunately have been either fired or constrained to work within the parameters created by the for profit corporation.

Much like the typewriter, the Woodward and Bernstein seem to have fallen by the wayside. The journalists who lived for speaking truth to power and exposing corruption at any cost seem to be more of a fond memory of a better and a simpler time. This is not to say they don’t exist, but they are becoming rarer every day. « less

Another riveting story, Sergeant Neil Wilson’s multiple counts of perjury, conspiracy, several accusations and proof of other criminal misconduct and unethical behavior. There are numerous documented cases of Wilson’s actions including a Human Resources investigation that concluded Wilson did violate the agencies harassment policy and how he is viewed as brash and disrespectful throughout the agency.

IA # 2014-15, Wilson had a warrant filed & arrested a citizen who was already in grave fear of him. The arrest happened a month after the citizens IA complaint against Wilson ended. The citizen withdrew his complaint for fear of further retaliation, which was so dire that he allegedly exclaimed “if Wilson gets fired, he will kill me.” IA apparently felt there was nothing wrong with a citizen fearIng retaliation from law enforcement, as he documented it in his report. IA wrote the citizen didn’t want to cooperate further “due to his belief of retaliation from SGT Wilson” Apparently this administration doesn’t care if citizens fear retaliation from its employees. There is something so inherently wrong with that.

Hoffman posses a plethora of indisputable evidence including audio recordings proving multiple counts of perjury, conspiracy, other state/federal crimes & countless agency violations. This is not conjecture, these are indisputable documented facts.

What did Hoffman do? Threaten the victim in a miscalculated attempt to intimidation & silence him & sent Wilson to command school as in your the type of leader I want in my administration.

Since the media outlets won’t report on these matters, learn for yourself about these and other unbelievable acts of corruption at Restoring Integrity on FB.

There are very few stories that conjure more feelings of betrayal and anger than corruption in law enforcement. Yet, the Sarasota Herald Tribune did a puff pick on Colonel Kurt A. Hoffman who is running for Sheriff and failed to abide by those journalistic principles. I cannot comprehend how a legitimate Newspaper would run a story, I believe was actually an advertisement, and not include Hoffman’s own admissions of multiple thefts of fuel from the Charlotte County Sheriffs Office, stealing from the Charlotte County Government, shoplifting pornography and stealing a boat. These are not wild accusations from a disgruntled former deputy Sheriff, they are Hoffman’s own admissions. What is worse is Hoffman didn’t admit these on his law enforcement/government job application, another lie. Hoffman only admitted to them after being caught lying and failing a pre-employment polygraph..

It is futile and impossible for any law enforcement agency to find candidates who are perfect, as they do not exist. Everyone has flaws and has made mistakes. However, what separates legitimate law enforcement candidates from the rest is their ability to account for their past transgressions and to be truthful from start to finish. Hoffman’s instinct was to lie.

You can find more information about Hoffman’s deceit and treachery in the article:

Hoffman fails polygraph about stealing from two previous employers.

    Post Administrative Investigations

Many law enforcement officers are shocked to learn that civil court and/or administrative hearings are not about finding the truth, but instead, they are about "who can present the best case." For example, a liar who "presents the best case" will legally prevail. The truth is moot if he can twists facts just enough to prevail.

Civil court is designed exclusively for the rich, which deputies are not. If you cannot afford to hire the very best attorneys to "present the best case" for you, then you will not prevail, particularly if you are going up against someone with unlimited deep pockets, such as a sheriff's legal council, which is supported by unlimited deep pockets from the Florida Sheriffs Association. You may have the truth on your side, but remember: in civil and administrative hearings, it is common for unethical parties to twist facts to say the exact opposite of the truth, in order to prevail. For example, a sheriff or his designee employ administrative IA investigators to twist facts just enough to prevail against deputies who are politically blackballed. The truth becomes moot in administrative investigations that are politically motivated to achieve predetermined outcomes.

An old timer once said: "the sheriff can do anything he wants." That is because the sheriff employs seasoned experts who know how to manipulate civil and administrative facts in his favor. If you have a morally upright sheriff, then things are good; but if you have an immoral sheriff, then morally upright deputies and civilians suffer.

The information on the Facebook page makes it seem like the unlicensed contractor/citizen and Neil Wilson are neighbors (?) and were friends (?) (in the beginning).

QUESTION: Did the citizen do unlicensed contracting work on Neil Wilson's personal home -- or was the work done on a staged home?

Normally, whenever unlicensed stings are conducted, they are done at a staged house -- and they are not at a deputy's personal home, where the deputy's wife and kids live (think safety or liability).

    Please provide clarification.

This was NOT a sting. The arrest was over a year after the work was performed and only a month after the citizen filed an IA complaint against Wilson. You do the math on that one.

Wilson’s rage was so blinding and he apparently he is NOT well versed in Florida law, otherwise he would have realized he was complicit in same crime he had a warrant executed and had the citizen arrested. According the the SSO report Wilson was referred to the citizen to have some work done in his home. The report indicates the citizen made several suggestions to Wilson as to what licensed contractors to use for the plumbing and for the electrical work. According to the report Wilson solicited the citizen to complete the work himself in order to save money and avoid obtaining the required permits and inspections from the county in order to save money. To add insult to injury, the citizen is the father-in-law of a deputy sheriff at the SSO. This made no difference to Wilson and he had him arrested purely for vindictive and retaliatory purposes.

If Wilson cared about the unlicensed contracting he would have addressed that with the court when he sued the citizen. Remember, this is the citizen that a month earlier refused to cooperate with IA for “fear of retaliation from Wilson.”

It is also important to remember, Det. AC sent an email through his chain of command identifying Sergeant Wilsons criminal misconduct that was on digital record.

    That email was ignored.

    Nothing happened to Wilson, (again).

That Det. mysteriously all of a sudden started getting written up for BS and was kicked out of the Det, bureau and sent back to patrol. (There’s no retaliation here, move along. Wilson doesn’t get protection, move along)

Wilson was not stopped from moving forward with his vendetta and malicious prosecution.

The case should have been dropped for glaringly obvious reasons of malicious prosecution and entrapment.

The information you are seeing on FB referring to neighbors, refers to the citizen and Sergeant Iorio (now Retired). They were neighbors and on several occasions SHT. Iorio heard about Wilson’s unethical and possible unlawful behavior. The citizen was in fear for his life and had recently pulled over (without probable cause) by an unmarked patrol car and told “don’t **** with Wilson”.

It was Sergeant Iorio who had the integrity to report his neighbor’s (the citizen)accusations, through his chain of command. As audio recordings indicate, despite Sergeant Iorio doing the right thing and following the law, he was reprimanded from his Captain and told it wasn’t his job to report incidents like that. *** SMH

All you have to do is listen to this video. It 100% proves beyond any doubt that Wilson perjured himself during multiple agency investigations and conspired with another sergeant to ensure their stories (lies) were straight. It also proves he violated federal law for retaliating against an employee who was out on approved FMLA leave.

Keep in mind each county perjury is a felony and this agency fired a 22 y/o naive rookie and had her arrested not once but twice for a lesser offense with weaker evidence.

Wilson has 15-20 yrs (?) of law enforcement experience and knew exactly what he was doing and saying.

Post Sheriff Thomas M. Knight & Colonel Kurt Hoffman

Shawn, you make excellent points and you are spot-on. You are left with only two choices:

    1. Get a Sarasota Herald-Tribune reporter who is willing to dig into the facts of the case, with the following two caveats:
      .
PROS: It will bring exposure into odd internal workings within the Sarasota Sheriff's Office that are immoral and are not in conformance with laws (from an ethical perspective). These outside political forces have the ability to discourage or stop investigative journalism of specific issues or people.
      .
CONS: Reporters have supervisors above them (editors and executive board members) who are influenced by outside political forces that are connected to the current regime e.g. Sheriff Tom Knight, Colonel Kurt Hoffman, Eric Robinson (the GOP moneyman), etc.
      .
    2. Hire a band of corporate attorneys who specialize in uncovering facts for administrative cases, in order to prevail in court. To win in a case like this will cost about 1.6 or 1.7 million dollars. Click here for a review on these kinds of cases. In murky cases, administrative justice is designed exclusively for the rich who can afford it. Active-duty deputies and retired deputies typically do not fall into this category.

Shawn, you mentioned that honest cops become discouraged and are encouraged to leave law enforcement. Someday you will share with your children and grandchildren the internal corruption that you saw, crossed and dealt with inside the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. You have seen the darkness and you escaped relatively unscathed because you left before you could be administratively framed. Now you know the backstory.

Thumbs up Using the SAO as a personal sword for blackmail

    Four points:

    1. The threatening memo to Keefe says: "...you may or might be in illegal possession of SSO paperwork..."
      .
    2. Since when do we advise people that they may be breaking the law -- and we fully intend to prosecute them "if the possible evidence is made available to us"?
      .
    3. This agency, at the direction of Mr. Tom Knight, with ill legal advice from Mr. Kurt Hoffman, will stop at nothing to get revenge or to get even with people.
      .
    4. The mafia-like message to Keefe is clear -- you better remain silent -- or else we are coming after you!
The SSO attorney threatened to arrest, charge or prosecute Keefe under FSS 119.10 – if it can be proven that he is in possession of unidentified SSO paperwork. The threatening memo is extraordinarily and cryptically strange because:

    • No case number is provided, to identify specific documents.
      .
    • No description of any sort is provided, to identify specific documents.

Colonel Kurt Hoffman should know better than to order the SSO attorney to blackmail current or former SSO employees by using the SAO as a sword for personal revenge or to illegally gain the upper hand.

Steve Burns (Ret.) was the first person to make the legal claim that anything a deputy creates, while he or she is on-duty, automatically becomes the sole property of the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office (SSO), to include audio recordings, pictures, drawings, personal notes, or anything else.

Under this proposed legal theory, if you overtly or secretly take audio recordings (or personal notes) while you are on-duty, in order to document dates, times, places, things, conversations and people – to prepare yourself to sue the agency – then by default, everything you create is automatically the property of the SSO – and you can be arrested for not promptly submitting it to the records section, to IA and/or to the Sarasota sheriff.

Colonel Kurt Hoffman directed SSO attorney Crystal Bailey to notify Shawn Keefe by certified mail that anything he currently possesses, that he created when he was on-duty, is legally the property of the SSO. Subsequently, Keefe can allegedly be arrested and prosecuted for refusing to return said property and/or can be civilly held liable.

    The more you know...
