Lightbulb Sexually Harassed Woman Betrayed by SSO PIO Kaitlyn Perez?

Maultsby then texted Bonner a threatening “Mafia-like” message that reads: “Snitches Get Stitches″ — and he attached an article about a murdered whistleblower.

The Sarasota Sheriff’s Office — which was supposed to protect Bonner — betrayed her confidence and her safety by putting her in a potentially dangerous situation.

Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.

Who is Perez loyal to? Where are her loyalties? Her hidden politics are showing and she got caught red handed. Even if it's a civil case, there must be loyalty to the citizenry for ethical reasons. We are paid to be loyal and honest ---- not political with political favors. Alas, she works for Tom Knight and Kurt Hoffman. Nuff said.

Unreal that the PIO would deliberately put a victim in danger only to give a "Professional curtiousy" to another PIO. She should lose her job at the very least. But I bet she gets zero punishment which goes hand in hand for that admin that if your in the group you are completely protected. This place needs change in the worst possible way

    Secrecy has its privileges

Putting in a public records request is inexpensive, but nonetheless, it cost money.

    1. The reporter from the H-T (Chris Anderson) was a paying customer and he was the very first person to put in a public records request for the SSO paperwork (about Jeff Maultsby & Cheraina Bonner).
      .
    2. However, Anderson did not receive the SSO paperwork until after SSO PIO Kaitlyn Perez was able to give it away, for free, to a non-paying person, who never even asked for it e.g. to Tracey Beeker at the school district.

If a deputy sheriff did that, then he or she would be disciplined or even terminated (for theft of paperwork), but since Perez is Tom Knight’s political appointee, she gets a free disciplinary pass.

    The more you know….

Kaitlyn Perez's secretive actions lack investigative impartiality, even for a civil harassment case. If Perez knew that her actions would be printed on the front page of the newspaper, then would she still have secretly given away SSO paperwork? The answer is "no." That is the litmus test for honesty and impartiality.

Cool SSO records logbook needs to be revamped

The records section has a log of every SSO employee who "looks" at a file. A new log needs to be created that also documents:
    1. The date that an SSO employee "takes or photocopies" a case and
    2. Documents "whoever" is given a copy of the case, to include the day and time of giving it away.

Senior SSO administrators and the PIO should not be exempt from this effort to establish integrity within the Sarasota Sheriff's Office.

In reference to the above, a justification block also needs to be added to the records log to show the reason for giving a non-SSO employee a free copy of a report:

#3. JUSTIFICATION: (insert “professional courtesy” here???)

If Perez were to write “professional courtesy” as her justification, it would go over like a lead balloon – and she knows it.
Cops give “professional courtesys” during traffic stops, but that doesn’t justify Perez secretly giving a “heads-up” to other parties in civil harassment disputes that do not involve SSO employees. Nor does it justify Perez giving away SSO property/paperwork, without charging for it, based on a “professional courtesy.” It is not her property to give away. Perez’s actions exceed the scope of ethical boundaries – and it causes the public to distrust law enforcement even more. If you don’t believe me, then look at the front page of today’s newspaper here:

Angry School favors: Leave a polished apple on Sheriff Tom Knight's desk

Tom Knight once told a reporter that for disciplinary purposes, apples must be compared to apples and oranges to oranges. Okay Tom, let’s do that.

    • APPLES: One fruit basket is filled with polished apples --> aka Tom Knight’s protected political appointees.
      .
    • ORANGES: The other fruit basket is filled with oranges --> aka politically expendable SSO employees who are not in Knight’s “protected basket of apples.”

Remember, for disciplinary purposes, apples must be compared to apples and oranges to oranges, right Tom?

    • Apples are always polished and made to look pretty on the outside, even if they taste like crap on the inside.
      .
    • Oranges cannot be polished, but instead, the rough exterior skin must be peeled away to expose it and to make it ready to be devoured by Knight’s political hit men.

As Knight said, apples must be compared to apples and oranges to oranges.
