    Truth

The shame of it is this-Israel sees the parents as the enemies who took away his job. Perhaps if she showed some sense of mourning or sincerity in his condolences people could have stood by him.
Wht didnt he have his Community Affairs be a presence at Parkland as was requested by Commissioners. You cannot blame parents! You lost your job, they lost their children, damn it!

My child saw some of the worst on 2/14/18, and by the grace of God survived. I don't blame the deputies. This was an unspeakable tragedy for all who were involved including law enforcement, many of them who acted heroically that day. This was a community failure, much of it our failure on multiple fronts. The media, has not, and will not, report how we lament and regret. We do.

Who else is at fault is debatable and depends on which lens you're looking through. It certainly is not the fault, solely, of a severely mentally disturbed individual who screamed for help, to no avail. And yes, as parents,we should have advocated for mental health services knowing for years that he was ostracized and bullied. Again, much regret.

The fact that Scott Israel is valued and desired by communities within Broward is not lost on us. Those communities should have their Sheriff back. In no way should Parkland speak for the county, and the accusation by the media and Senator Thurston that this has been the overwhelming tone of our city's conversation is untrue. A 90 day notice, prior to GT would have been the most fair route rather than an intervention by the Governor, but, once again, like Runcie, the Parkland political squad finds a way to fend off residents and weasel out of making a decision. Israel will find out by the tally of votes that his leadership is not desired in this small community, with the exception of very few, less about "fault" and more about closing a painful chapter. Emotion can be removed from most issues, but not this one, not yet. The attempts to shove logic down the throats of devastated parents 21 months after this tragedy IS too much to ask. All of this can be mended with compromise. Israel is out of Parkland and back to work as Broward's sheriff if voters choose him. Ideally, that's how it will unfold.

i'll vote for the loudmouth NY jerk Israel in 2020 if he is definately not going to have the Parkland district as part of BSO. As long as he's out of parkland district for sure those Perry followers can throw turkeys around the county all day. Those anti-cop people in Roz Osgoods court want a public service agency they should have it and all that goes with it. Parkland should get creek, springs or revive PPD and Israel be sheriff for people who want him. thats more than fair. he'd probably get 21k votes from parkland if he says he wont be their sheriff but he too stupid and want to be a martyr. He don't think he needs 21K extra votes. Dummy to roll the dice but maybe he dreams of winning and being able to rub their noses in it. sick jerk

Are you still pushing this BS?

At the moment, it is the Will of the People of Parkland to continue to contract with the BSO for police service. What YOU want is irrelevant, if the majority overrides that. If the People of Parkland want to sever their ties with the BSO, then all they have to do is to get their elected officials to do that. A simple written notification is all that is necessary. But, apparently, they do no desire that. You are, apparently, a member of the minority in Parkland.

Now, the media wanted an elected official to be "responsible" for the MSDHS shooting. They settled on the Sheriff, because he was highly visible and because they did not want to start a panic by pointing out that this whole incident might well have been avoided, if the BCSB had effective security in place, at all of its 241 schools, to prevent such a tragedy. The Parkland Parents piled on to assuage their feelings, whether of loss or guilt. The political actors, in the rest of the state, jumped in, to divert attention from the fact that no school district in Florida, outside Miami-Dade has effective security in place in its schools. A well know political candidate for Governor was running neck and neck with a largely unknown challenger who was under active FBI investigation for corruption and needed a hook to get enough votes to win. And, a Republican Senate chose to ignore evidence and the rule of law and back the Republican Governor in his largely bogus action against Sheriff Israel. No significant increase in school security has occurred. The children are no safer from a similar attack now than they were in February of 2018. And, YOU want everyone to sit around holding hands and singing We Are The World. Right.

The media wanted a scapegoat. The Parkland Parents wanted a scapegoat. DeSantis wanted a scapegoat so he could win a political contest. The Senate, recognizing how weak the Governor actually is, backed him, even after their own Special Master found the evidence did not support the charges and recommended that Israel be reinstated, because they wanted a scapegoat. Well all these people got what they wanted. They now OWN their actions in this matter. There is NO reason to scapegoat them, because the evidence clearly shows that they actually did all this.

Now, explain to the 571,000 people who voted for Israel for Sheriff why no one bothered to consult with them before their choice for that office was unilaterally removed. Why the whining for 21000 people, who are perfectly cable of deciding their own fate, and ignore the half a million people who got hosed along with Israel?

You forgot to mention if you voted for Israel or not. If not, then you are irrelevant. If you did, then what about the other 579,999 people who voted for him? They are what, irrelevant? Probably, as far as you are concerned.
