The facts are the facts, like it or not and the fact is there is zero need for a new toy house, the pink castle is more than adequate for years to come. No substations needed, we have the one on NP blvd and the new one in West villages. The PD needs to stop the useless spending of the taxpayers monies, remember a few short years ago NP was nearly bankrupt, everybody suffered. History will repeat itself !!!!!!
This is getting sickening. You got your tank. You got your traffic unit, brand new vehicles on and on. Now you want a brand new police station give me a break. Wake up tax payers. North port has minimal crime. This is insane. Commissioners kissing the behind. This is just crazy.

No you are clueless, been in the planning for over a year, present station is to small or that's what they claim, been in the new, you should really keep current, they are asking for 39 million but cost estimate range upwards for 40 million, you know ask small and opps cost over runs. To be built in the area of the old station by the post office.

Wow you really don't pay attention. That was only one possible option. How about the other option of just adding on to the PD. Oh but wait, I am the clueless one LOL

thirty million dollars for an addition is that what you are trying to spin, really that's some addition !!!! New toy house near the post office, already inquired about the land, now unless they are going to connect the pink castle to the new toy house by under ground tunnels (addition) , no room at the pink castle to expand that big, no the asst chief wants a new toy house, he will get a new toy house as long as VC, PE, Hanks and JL are still commissioners, they have all been brainwashed, wait I used brain that would be an oxymoron in this case. Any discussions should be postponed until after the elections and the people have the chance to speak. But it will be rushed thru since Hanks, JL and VC are done !!! its the NP way. Don't be to hard on urself, your not clueless just well a wannabe who is uniformed.. This time when next year when the new tax bills come out, and every year after, you will think last years bill was not so bad

You are clueless! They're presenting several options to Commission. Yes, one of which is a new building. Your like a kid who is so focused and drooling at the large lollypop in the candy store window. It is for the Commission to decide what to do. It is the Chief, Asst Chief, and their staff to present the problem and give options. Whatever is decided by the COMMISSION, we probably would not even see a shovel in the ground for a minimum of three years from now. So, know YOUR facts, STOP your fixation and stop hiding behind your keyboard. If your that upset with what is needed for our Police Officers, then come out to the Commission meeting and voice your concerns during public comment. Oops, I just remembered, you have to state your name before you speak.

Well here it is folks, they are at it again, 400k for the tank, 350K for the traffic unit, 17million to run the dept and now 30 million for a new PD headquarters. ( actually cost estimates to include the land near the post office is 40 million) I have to give them credit, they are persistent and smart and cunning. Case in point, all the vehicles parked in the secured area of the PD, looks like the lot is full. But realistically most are not in-service vehs most are going to auction, but not knowing this one would think they needed a bigger lot. Lets look at the so called over abundance of evidence, there is plenty of unused areas of the PD, the never used jail cells, all the useless offices, has it gotten so critical the asst chief, commanders etc have evidence in their offices, no way. This whole thing is a shame started by, you guessed it Asst chief CM. See he has this thing, if another PD has something, he needs it, the tank, SPD has one, he needed one, the traffic unit, others have one, he needed one better, SPD and other PDs have a motorcycle unit, he needs one ( not yet, but its coming) and yes Venice PD is building a new public safety Bldg and you guessed it, we need one. No one is fooling anyone here. The pink castle is more than adequate to provide headquarters for years to come , need room, move the garage employees over to the DPW garage, frees up the whole garage building, cars are already fixed at the DPW anyway. Move the tank and the command center under a permanent canopy in the rear lot. Re open the substation on NP blvd, No its a lot easier to dupe the commissioners and fleece the taxpayers. Hire more officers they say, so we can what keep the SRO,s hire more homeless liaison cops, promote more detectives and command staff and still keep patrol understaffed. Very poor leadership. The problem is this and simply this, the last commission was hard on the PD, gave them very little,(ABCD) When change was made and the new commishs gave the dept raises, new vehicles and were duped into thinking we are your last line of defense, the criminals are banging at our doors, we are not capable of handling all this crime, the commission virtually gave the PD a blank check, just how much has this cost us so far. The time is now to tear up that blank check and say NO to a new police HQ. Renovate/enlarge to police garage to store evidence, re open the substation on NP blvd. If the PD can get grants to fully cover the new HQ and not cost the taxpayers a dime, that's great. If the commishes cave and give in, just what happens to the old station, the PD is not going to relinquish this, it was specifically made for them, so now we are paying for two headquarters and a substation, and the small army they want. They need to learn to live within our means, work with what you got and remember its election year, do not support any candidate who places the wants of the PD over their fiscal responsibility to us, the taxpayers.

#1 you are wrong about the vehicles in the lot. There are no vehicles that are not in service, only PD vehicles and evidence vehicles.

#2 you are wrong about the storage of evidence. Every cell and secured storage space is bursting with evidence that is required to be secured. Occupied offices are not secured for evidence storage!

#3 you are wrong about the useless offices. Storage closets and conference rooms have been converted to office space for multiple employees. The only empty space at this point are the hallways!

#4 you are wrong about the DPW garage workers. There is no such thing at the PD building. Garage space is being used to house evidence.

#5 you are wrong about the substation. It is being used by multiple units and is also overcrowded.

#6 you are wrong about the PD relinquishing the building. There are many department throughout the city on North Port that have outgrown their spaces and can take over the PD building.

Maybe you should educate yourself on what is actually true before you spout off.

Clueless, again you are trying your spin, so lets address your clueless mis tales/BS

1-since to original revelations on the vehicles, all the vehs that are ready for auction have been removed or moved from the Sumter side of the station, you know the tahoes, old civilian aide vehs etc. Wonder why ??They have been replaced with new vehicles. Maybe the commissioners should visit fleet vehicle, stop the take home cars, so the parking lot would have room, this would cut the fleet by 60% and save thousands.
2-bursting you say, I doubt it, all the offices have locks, so well they are secured. But lets us get back to the fact that a large percentage of the evidence is from cases already adjudicated, most dismissed, so wouldn't it be easier to have the SAO and judge sign off on this bursting evidence , so this so called bursting evidence can be returned or destroyed. Bursting nice spin. One can maybe think are they exaggerating this situation or maybe hoarding evidence to justify the new toy house, hmmm. There was no problem until the new chief arrived and one of the first thing he wanted was a new station, hmmm
3-if this were the case and it is not, then this presents a serious fire code violation and should be addressed immediately, this is certainly a safety hazard and the city manager should direct the FD and code to immediately inspect and issue violations to hold the police admin accountable for such a serious safety concern, or maybe a call to OSHA, haven't heard the union complain.
4-the two stall garage is manned by city employees to work on the PD vehicles, you can see them lined up there, since the DPW is responsible for the entire fleet management and service, abandon the garage, removed the calibration equipment over to the DPW, put a canopy shelter up for the tank and use the garage as storage, it is certainly secure.
5-Nice try, no one is manning that station, for awhile they kept an old Tauris in the lot to make that appear but no one is ever around
6- what depts., everyone is comfy and cozy in city hall, plenty of room for every dept there.
A few years ago we learned in NP to not drink the koolaide provided by the PD adim, its spiked with stupidity and self indulgence. They all are employees of the taxpayers of NP, if we decided they needed to work out of a tent, then they have a choice, work from the tent or quit, its just that simple. They work for us, we have supplied them with more than adequate raises, manpower and equipment. Enough is just enough !!!!!!!!!!!! you are clueless
