    17 people dead, 14 students

16 people, 14 students slaughtered in a school. Scott Israel tells the entire world he’s a great leader, and says there was nothing he could do about it. And all we do is read on this sight about a deputy who was fired almost a year ago. Let’s all hope Israel is not reinstated this week.

Soooooo stupid and ignorant to even suspect that Scot Israel was responsible for this. I guess you just can’t fix stupid.
Sad that ALL victims who died at ALL schools had to go through this type of tragedy because of INDIVIDUALS who decide to shoot and kill helpless victims and loved ones. This had happened before and after Stoneman Douglas. We must not forget about ALL THE VICTIMS NOT JUST Stoneman Douglas.
How sad that few decide to capitalize and make money or prey for votes for their own Gain on tragedies like this one.
SHAME ON YOU and you will have to answer to a higher hierarchy. It’s sick to even suspect Scott Israel of such a thing but there sick people who strive on greed.

ok... a question based on multiple posts about R. DeSantis suspending Scott only for the purpose of to appeasing the Parkland parents. Honestly a little confused about this, as those who state this also go on to say that Parkland voters don't move the needle, and also that DeSantis didn't and can't win Broward County anyway, and that no one cares about what happened in that little city where so few votes come from. So, exactly, how would having Parkland parents on his side benefit DeSantis in any way at all ? If his intention was to make good on a campaign promise, it wasn't Parkland, or Broward that got him elected or could get him re-elected. This is not sarcasm at all, it's an honest question.

DeSantis was in a literal dead heat with Gillum, a political unknown who was under active FBI investigation by the FBI. DeSabtis needed all the backing and votes that he could get. So, as the media was already casting Israel as the villain of the MSDHS incident, to appease the Parkland parents. Everyone in the state believed that the shooting incident was Israel's fault, because the media told them so. So, DeSantis wins, barely. Being an "honorable" politician, he paid his political "debt" and suspended Israel on largely trumped up charges.

The Parkland parents' drive to blame a person in a position of authority was the spark that started the fire. The media jumped in to gin-up ratings from the blame game. The politicians, realizing that this could have happened in any school system in the state, with the possible exception of Miami-Dade County, needed someone to blame it all on, rather than the system. So, the sheriff was set up as a scapegoat. The most telling factor in all of this is the fact that the newly instituted minimum security standards put in place, under the MSDHS Security Act are exactly the same as those in place at MSDHS on the day of the shooting. The suspension was not strictly a payback to Parkland parents, after all DeSantis was going to lose Broward county 2:1, no matter what he did. But, the suspension gives cover to all elected officials in the state who have anything to do with schools. The shooter is in custody. The Sheriff, who is to blame for the shootings [according to the media] is out of office, at least temporarily. A useless security bill was enacted. So, we can all feel safe and go about our daily lives. Even though we are no safer now, than we were on 02/14/2018. But we can all feel better because Israel is no longer sheriff.

So, at this point we have had a Blue Ribbon Commission and a Special Master, both of whom have said that Scott Israel was not responsible fo the shooting, that his departmental policies did not lead to any casualties and were in line with similar policies in most other LEAs in the state, and that other county agencies had failed to adequately protect the school. And, STILL, people are disseminating the falsehood that Israel was somehow responsible for the incident itself, including the casualties.

Goodlette said that the Sheriff was not responsible for the initial shooting incident. He laid that at the feet of the school. He said that the response was flawed, but did not blame the sheriff for any casualties which resulted. And, he further stated that the policies in place in the BSO, in regard to mass shooting incidents, were in line with those in most other LEAs in the state. Read Goodlette's report. It bears almost no resemblance to the public narrative spread by the media and others. And he stated that the Governor failed to even remotely prove the case for the suspension.
