    Time limits for specialties

Many of the agencies around us now have rotations or time limits for specialties, what’s everyone’s thoughts on that?

Being from a specialty unit I agree time limits should be implemented maybe 5 years. Except for Homicide. That’s just a field you can never get enough experience working!

If the specialty unit had a good supervisor that keeps everyone motivated and productive then no. But look at bikes. You got a unit full of guys that have been in there for 5+ years. They do nothing. The delta guys never even ride bikes. A good supervisor would be all over them. Hiding in the office. Hiding at the gym. Now you kick them all back to the road and throw in some motivated fresh people that unit may actually be beneficial to the department

Should be a rule that a minimum of 5 years of continued road patrol experience before you can even apply for a speciality unit. Lots of these Jack a$$es don’t even have road experience.

And the guys with years and years on do what? 182s, 189s and 175 landline? Give it a break. The reason why your old asses aren't in a unit is because you don't work. Hang up the blackjack your time has passed. Too busy *****in about bike units and the alphabet units. What's wrong your wife constantly talks about the guys and you have a bit of jealousy cause you look horrible in a snuggie? Calm down sea cow. A few more years and you'll be just another guy on FMPD retirees.
