There are MANY officers/detectives who EASILY make over 150k a year. All you have to be is either half way competent or hustle! It's not that hard. And yes, I know some people are hooked up and make it too.

Be it as it may, the point of the post is that we should try to live within our means so that we may enjoy those we love and guard against spreading ourselves thin. If we are always chasing the dollar, it will never be enough and hence you will never be in a place to move into management/different units and have an opportunity to impose your great ideas to make things better. That’s all. Be a critic if you must, but don’t blame those who planned appropriately and take advantage of all the opportunities their decisions/sacrifices have opened for them.
