Because the sheriff and the state and everyone who works under the sheriff and the state, are afraid if Drejka isn't kept behind bars that the blacks will burn down a few buildings, and get Clearwater on national news for something bad. I mean everybody white.

But the state was so desperate as to not upset the African American population, well not all of them, to be honest, they had poor ol' Fred Schaub tell that ridiculous handicapped parking story over and over til all those jurors wanted to do was go home.
