That’s a shame. A loss for the city. In the last 3 decades he has been the most productive and approachable city manager. If you attend council meeting you would see the effort he has put into decimating city issues, expenses, and benefits etc. our budget is on point with no changes to employed and benefits, no increase in taxes, and enabled the city the “get its legs under itself” financially. All those who may disagree... you have that right; however do your own research and you will agree. Listen to the haters and crybabies then shame on you

City Manager Gretsas has done a pretty good job. Better then a lot of the others that city had in the past. Don’t know why there is so much negative comments. Him , Porter and the council members have worked pretty good together I remember when the city could barely function and was scraping the barrel to meet their budget

Stop giving gretsas and the council so much credit. They are all bought and vote the way they are told to.

Have you looked into gretsas past? They got rid of him in NY and Ft. Laud. Now he's leaving Homestead before he gets booted out of there too.

And why should a city mgr in Homestead be making $400K a year? He should not be. Ridiculous

What’s happening is an election year. The gates are open for the vultures to try to come in and pillaging all that Porter and the council have established and built. Don’t think the new kids on the block want to help the want to pillage and eat their piece of the pie. Their is nothing wrong with what we have worked with in the last 5-6 years. All decisions were voted upon. Others were voted on by residents. The city has thrived and continues to strengthen. Traffic gripes .... that is a gripe in all the tru county area . If you have noticed over the last year or more there has been ongoing work occurring on our roadways to help alleviate some of the congestion. If you have noticed entertainment and shopping infrastructure is happening to meet the requests and needs of the residents. Yes I hope some of the old downtown remains as it keeps the history and roots of Homestead alive. The cities services are second to none. Homestead’s utility cost are likely more then FPL however not off par with utility costs across the nation (research) crime has been reduced in Homestead . ( The naysayers will say crime has reduced in many other cities too) ..... but without a strong and level headed city government structure and a well led police department we would not be one of these cities. Remember NO ONE INDIVIDUAL is perfect. All we can ask is that the Mayor, Council and city department employees always strive to put their best foot forward and learn from any mistakes. If you look around and objectively think about where we are and where the city is you must agree it is the best it has been and appears we are on a great path. Not everyone will like this path however it is the city government’s responsibility and duty to work towards the path of the majority. Election years are great but dangerous too. Everyone promises the world to get that door open. But sometimes once inside and the lights go on it’s not what you hoped for.

DON’T listen the the BS dribble of the usual whiners that bark at council meetings. One thinks of himself as Robin Hood super Hero. That person barks and spews anger and hatred because he demands he gets his way. The world does not work that way. They are angry and if you step back and look at the entirety of it they only had problems with city officials and HPD police chief and personnel after he did not get his way. That person had no issues or problems until he did not get his way(research the time line). Another individual belittles his own race and gives them no credit. Continually referencing slaves, “Uncle Tom” etc. WOW. The African American community is so far ahead and beyond your observation sir. It is sad that you try to use the “race box” to stand on to blow your ego up like your the next Martin Luther King. (I don’t think so) You belittle the HPD Police Chief who has been the first African American Chief in the city’s history ( a has been very successful to boot as well as a rolemodel). You belittle Patricia Faircloth who is a successful African American woman in career and city government (whom I should mention is a wonderful person and role model). Find your own character to stand on. Do no use and abuse your race to build yourself up. It appears you are not confident and happy with yourself. Only you can change that. The other one must have a complex of insecurity and needs to try to gather a group of like minded people to make themselves feel empowered. They want to be the bully as they must have been bullied in the past and were not able to beyond it and be happy and satisfied with who they are and what they are. They bark out negativity and cannot see the forest because of the trees. Sad ...... just because you don’t get the response that you want or the way you want does NOT MAKE IT WRONG. That is the definition of a snowflake! The world or even he city does not revolve around an individual. Get a grip. Find your place and be happy. If you are unhappy. Oh well that is your problem. Instead of attacking these people and playing “conspiracy theorist “ really get to know them with an open, non judge-mental opinion and you will be surprised. All these negative minded people really don’t know the people they belittle, judge, and spew negativity about. Don’t listen to it. Be smart and judge for yourself

What’s Happening is that we are tired of the little bi!&$*% with their complaining and negativity. Job is hard enough without it. Grow up suck it up. You get good pay good benefits and the opportunity to make a difference in this world. Not many can ever say that.

Put all that energy towards the job !!!
