Paul Fern runs for Sarasota sheriff

Retired Sarasota sheriff’s deputy Paul Fern is running for sheriff in 2020.

Fern, 53, started his law enforcement career as a corrections deputy at the Manatee Sheriff’s Office, but he moved to the Sarasota Sheriff's Office patrol division in 1997.

When the World Trade Center was attacked, he got to know Secret Service agents. “After 9/11, an agent sent me an email and said they were ramping up the air marshals,” Fern said. He then became a federal air marshal with the Department of Homeland Security.

In 2011, travel demands became greater and he chose to return to the Sarasota Sheriff's Office where he worked in patrol and as a K9 deputy until his retirement in 2018.

Fern now owns Wings and Weenies with his wife, Joann.

If that is the worst thing you could find on Paul Fern was an arrangement with IRS to pay on back business taxes then he wins the background check portion of the race already. I’ve read all the crap on Hoffman over and over again on here.

Know your facts before you post. And if I were you, I’d let it go. Just let this be a clean race about the sheriff’s office. I can tell you if you open the floodgates for shit to come out, you will not be pleased with the results.

30 million people are in financial issues with the IRS. Looks like it’s being rectified. Being independent small business or contract worker is a tough gig the government taxes generously. Hopefully not 30 million sheriffs pathologically lie and create a toxic work environment for its officers/employees that has infiltrated the department per reports of retaliation and gaslighting situations and employees. That’s an emotionally abusive circle. That’s not being rectified.
