    St. Pete Times Editorial

Why did the Mayor get a pass? Is it because only black people were the victims of the latest stolen car fatalities? The media's lack of depth on the core issues, causing this out of control black on black crime, is to blame. What does the Burg's black political leaders think about this issue? The lack of jobs apparently can no longer be used as a excuse for this criminal activity, more jobs than people to fill them, if your interested in working. As long as the media refuses to hold black politicians accountable, they will continue to spew weak excuses and no solutions.

The Mayor and every Councilman or woman should be interviewed and asked if not participating in the task force that is going after these prolific offenders is a good idea? Its media corruption not to hold elected officials feet to the fire and give them a pass. Your editorial has already shown that the Chief's explanation doesn't make any sense. The Chief is only making decisions based on self preservation. Whens the last time any of your reporters have spent the weekend in these warzones watching what goes on? Why dont you spend some time documenting the lawlessness that occurs and the total lack of enforcement being done in these areas. Cops know that their political leaders and Commands will not support them, so proactive police work isn't being done.

Kriseman and Holloway should be forced to live in Bartlett Park with no protective detail. House arrest.

How inept are you when the liberals at the Times call you out for being weak on crime? You listening Tony?

Any truth to the rumor that the Mayor and Chief asked the Sheriff to pull his deps on the task force out of St.Pete? Like your editorial suggests, manpower is not the issue here. Again, why are you letting this liberal, limo Mayor off the hook?

That is 100% truth. It also happened at least twice when Chuckles was chief

Where are all these black elected officials and community leaders? Why aren't they speaking out about not going after these predators causing chaos in their communities? Could it be that very few of them live in these war zones? Could it be that the color of ones skin is more important than the content of ones character? MLK in reverse.

Chief Holloway “Sheriff, we are pulling our officers out of VCTF”

    Sheriff Gualtieri “Ok”

Chief Holloway “Sheriff we would like it if VCTF stays out of St Petersburg please”

Sheriff Gualtieri “Ha.....oh I’m sorry, you were being serious. Sorry, but not sorry Tony, but no. Are you putting any officers back into VCTF since the majority of issues come from your city?”

Chief Holloway “Well, no, we need to combat the prostitution problem we have on 4th Street and 34th Street. But I guess with VCTF losing so many officers that your guys will slow down.”

Sheriff Gualtieri “Nope, I replaced the officers you moved off the task force with deputies. The task force is actually making more arrests without your people slowing them down.”

Chief Holloway “What does that mean?”

Sheriff Gualtieri “Well you don’t let your people leave the county, bad guys don’t recognize city and county boundaries. You don’t let your people stop cars for glaring tint violations. Bad guys use illegal window tint, especially on rental vehicles, to hide their identity. Tony it’s almost as if you don’t want to arrest the worst of the worst.”

Chief Holloway “Well we approach things differently. We park, walk and talk. We try and reach the community.”

Sheriff Gualtieri “Well Tony I don’t think your approach has ever worked. But VCTF reaches your community many times a night through stops and arrests. It’s called police work. Geez Tony, it’s in the name of your agency. You should really try policing, it actually works.”

    Chief Holloway 🥺

Gualtieri is the only reason the majority of Pinellas is still somewhat safe. If he were black or Democrat, crime would be 300% higher.
