I wasnt getting into which one was easier to fire....just that each sheriff still has to answer to someone above them, the governor. Y'all can go back to ranting and jerking each other off while flipping me the bird. Just shows how unglued and mentally weak y'all really are.

The Governor is not really above th Sheriff it’s only if the Sheriff majorly secrws up like the Broward deal. Woithout a Major screw up the Sheriff only answers to the voters. He doesn’t answer to anyone daily like a police chief. A police chief like the spineless wonders tha have always been at SPPD answer to the spineless wonders of mayors like Liberal Rick who answers to the South Side. The Sheriff is pretty much on his own to do what he wants. FDLE has on control over a Sheriff keep dreaming. FDLE is more of a disaster that SPPD. Like OP said Sheriffs in Florida pretty much do what the hell they want.

That's exactly how it is, the sheriff is not accountable to anyone. The only people who can remove him from office are the Governor and Attorney General. But he has to screw up really bad like Israel did at BSO to warrant removal from office.

Now regardless of what you or I think about the SPPD chief and the mayor, the city residents elected the mayor and city council. If they want a liberal leadership with a "stand down" police department, that is their option. The point is that they got what they wanted and are holding Holloway responsible to run SPPD the liberal way, the way their politicians think and act. Otherwise Holloway would be fired, like Curtsinger and Vines.

Holloway was a useless puppet in Clearwater just like he is in St.Pete.

He was kept in check by the city and the police union. That's a good system of checks and balances from the police officers' perspective, compared to the nearly unlimited and unchecked power of the sheriff.

The title of this post is inaccurate. They did not beat the suspect together. They took turns. They worked as a team. Job well done in my book. Chris Rock said it first, “If you run and make da police come get you, they’re bringing an ass kicking with them.” Too bad.

Good to see excellent inter-agency cooperation on arrests.
