Carelessness
So who's the dumb ass that was too lazy to take their gunbelt in the house and just toss it in the trunk of their patrol SUV?? It's 2019 and crooks will break into anything and are looking for weapons. We should take our own advice and not leave guns in cars, like we tell the general public NOT to do. I hope the officer faces some consequences for this.

Anything negative about any of us that makes the media reflects on all of us as an agency.
He may of been a decent Lt in North Miami but he is a terrible cop here who will probably get someone hurt (look at his AVL on how long he takes his time to back up a fellow officer).
He also will purposely take forever on a call which leaves the other officers in his area to take up how work load.
For just those three reasons above (there is more) it is everyone’s business .

Amen! The guy is a know-it-all who just came to the Beach for a second pension. This incident kinda begs the question: did the officer drive home with their gun belt off while in a marked vehicle?? Officer must not realize that crap can hit the fan an ANYTIME. Let's not forget that officer from Key Biscayne who was shot in the neck while in traffic during an active-shooter situation. People make mistakes, but that was just sheer disregard for safety. I pray that weapon isn't used for evil, but we already know what will eventually happen.
