If we examine the trend, it is in favor of body cameras. Regardless of what TPD management thinks, if the public wants body cameras Tampa politicians will turn on a dime and make it happen for votes. All it takes is an incident to galvanize the public and politicians to buy body cameras.
We want all elected politicians to wear body cameras! Put it on the ballot!

I can get behind this. Put cameras in their offices as well and dedicate a local tv channel so the voters can watch them (ehh) hard at work (cough cough). Similar to the NASA channel.

You have it backwards. Politicians decide if cops wear body cameras, cops do not decide if politicians wear body cameras. That's because politicians are elected by the voters and represent the will of the citizens while cops are hired to enforce the laws and do as they are told.

The citizens (voters) decide. Gotta speak up and voice our concerns. Statistically speaking, more politicians are involved in corruption and criminal activity then cops. Elected officials are suppose to work and do as expected by the people that elected them.

Let us know of any examples when police body cameras were placed on a referendum for the citizens to vote on. It's a decision made by politicians, such as the chief and/or the mayor.

Really? Ok....first of all, ballot initiatives enable regular citizens to propose a law or constitutional amendment via a petition. ... A referendum refers to the process that allows citizens to demand a popular vote on any law or measure that's been passed recently. Initiatives and referendums are examples of direct democracy. Elected Politicians work for the people. Therefore, if a majority of the public want/request something, the elected politician should listen. As we know, that doesn't always happen. But when there is a large demand by the public, politicans tend to listen or act in fear they won't be reelected.

So, after some major events where police were accused of using excessive force, police brutality, injustice, etc. There was a large public outcry, riots, etc.. politicans had to act to save face.

Nothing but political grandstanding. Their is NO need for body cameras and the cost Does NOT justify the means. Those “incidents “ you speak of were lies and propaganda spread by the left wing and media. Absolutely Ridiculous to spend that much of tax payer money on a political promise.

It appears you're arguing with someone(s) who agrees with you. They are saying since cops have to wear body cameras, politicians should also have to wear body cameras and have them in their offices since they work for the people and are "statistically" more corrupt then police. Since they implemented it they should lead by example and wear them. I UNDERSTAND WHEN SOMEONE WRITES WORD(S) IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IT MUST MEAN SOMETHING AND IMPLY WHAT YOU FEEL IS IMPORTANT. SO, I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS TO LET YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD READ THE THREADS. SOME WHICH CONTAIN LOWER CASE LETTERS THAT FOLLOW THE UPPERCASE LETTERS AS WELL. IT IS JUST PROPER GRAMMAR. HOW DOES SOMEONE DISAGREE WITH SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH WHAT YOU ARE STATING AFTER IT WAS ALREADY STATED?

Anyone else notice Dugan on the TPD twitter page wearing his black polo with a white under shirt. That’s a MOR violation. He would loose his mind if someone else did it. Do as I say not as I do leader.
