    Call volume

LEO with experience, currently in the application process and had a question. How is the call volume? I know every day is different but is there time to be proactive? Or is it always call to call.

    Thanks and be safe.

Depends we’re you are assigned. Patrol is so short it’s more call to call in most places but every night is different

Short? Why aren’t they hiring more often.

Yes, that's the reason, not something else that's being left out.

The City did away with over hiring and won't increase the authorized number of positions. In the past the Dept could hire in anticipation of an opening, now it has to wait for an opening through attrition in order to hire a new officer.

Patrol will always be short staffed here as long as there are more “specialized” plain clothes officers than patrol officers.

When you start how is it decided what district you go to? Needs of the department or closest district to you(doubt that but heard HCSO does that).

    Thanks for the info.
