The Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation recently reported a case of possible fraud to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A statement posted on the group’s Facebook page says the foundation was contacted regarding concern about possible fraud to one of its bank accounts on June 6.

Foundation president Ron Cooley froze all the foundation’s accounts, and the person suspected of making the transfer was removed from access to any Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation accounts or facilities.

“The ISPHF is cooperating fully with all law enforcement agencies involved and will make the findings of any investigation known once it has been completed,” the statement said.

Cooley declined to provide details about the fraud case beyond the fact that is was now being handled by the FBI, and what was in the statement.

In an article by the Illinois Times, it says the foundation’s treasurer is no longer serving in that role, which she held since 2014. The Illinois Times also reports that the foundation had $424,000 in revenue in 2017.
