No clue
You're missing the part in addiction 101 where the addict/alcoholic is not going to seek out treatment willingly. In most cases family, friends or job forces their hand to get help. There are plenty of members that recreationally use and drink with no problem ever.
Use the same approach used to keep our members from eating the business end of their duty weapon.
Say something and show concern to the people showing indications of addiction... Taking the shame out of it (they already feel plenty) and making it ok to get help for their disease.
Many LEOs walk around with untreated PTSD and use alcohol and substances to cope and numb themselves after what they see and have to do in the line of duty.
So stop the shame and blame and start showing some compassion FFS. You may need it one day, and God forbid you get what you've given in your career.

So what you are saying is it was ok for the 3 stooges to get sloppy drunk because they may have ptsd or just working thru some things. They are drunks and most likely have driven like that. But let these same 3 people stop a dui and they get arrested and hauled off to jail although they may have the same issues the drunk deputies had going on. But your suggesting help for them. SO...... Whats the difference????

Stop trying to justify the LEOs own additions. We all know its out of control. These knuckleheads as you call them are drunks!!! They did it because they can!. Everybody knows no action will be taken against them. OH WAIT,I lied! One day suspension. Every ones life/job is stressful but they dont hit the bottle, just saying!!!! No need to brush up on education. Common sense prevails. So maybe go help your fellow co-worker handle his stress, maybe take a bottle!!!
