You bunch of pussies. If you have ever been in a stressful situation (ie. shooting) you would know that auditory exclusion is a real thing. You don’t even hear the big bad bang that you are so afraid of. Stop asking for extra shit you little ****s.

I agree that’s true. But not for those around you. And not for every shot. Try and remember that this is not an official agency site. This is a place people throw out some ideas. You shouldn’t get so mad over just words. Remember, there is EAP and they can help you. But I agree that there is too much equipment wasted on people. Look at SWAT. They buy $3000 full auto SBR’s, $2000 cool guy Safariland Fast Attack Vests. Oh and $300 Delta Force approved high cut tac helmets. None of that has been used in a real world op with the slightest chance of use in decades. And the bullshit SWAT Games don’t count. That’s about the only place anything is used. And let’s not forget the ridiculous amount of money spent on “sniper rifles”. When is the last time a sniper shot anyone during a SWAT op? I’m thinking the 80’s. SWAT would work just fine with patrol AR’s and Aimpoint Pros. And buy a few with 20” heavy barrels, a bipod and some low end Leupold scopes and there’s your “sniper team”. All .223, all the same ammo patrol uses. That’ll happen as soon I am Sheriff.

Auditory exclusion is psychological not physiological. Suppressors protect the physiological, the eardrums. But a moron like you cannot be expected to know the difference.

There are only two kinds of people who oppose rifle suppressors:

    - Trouble makers who come here to stir the pot for their own enjoyment.

    - Administration suck ups and bean counters who don't want to spend the money on rifle suppressors. These people live in offices and seldom or never fired a rifle in their whole lives, especially without hearing protection. They could care less about damage to and even loss of hearing cause by firing 223 rounds in rapid succession in a deadly force situation.
Or citizens that are sick of you wasting their money and spending it on stupid toys.

    Good point about wasting money.

You forgot to factor in the cost of the medical care required by deputies who sustained hearing damage, long term cost of hearing aids and increased medical insurance cost as a result of these additional claims. All these additional costs in dollars and degraded physical health as a result of not having rifle suppressors to protect hearing. Better to spend money on prevention now than spend even more money on health care later. To say nothing of the hearing damage caused by rifle fire which is progressive as one gets older and cannot be reversed.

And how much has that been so far in the history of the PCSO? Zero. When WWIII breaks out in Pinellas County and you have to shoot your .223 a few hundred times like US Soldiers do, then come back with your hat out. Until then, hell no.

James, when you become Sheriff feel free to sell all those “stupid toys”. Until then, party on!! You have ZERO choice on what your tax dollars get spent on you whining little *****. You should consider some testosterone shots. Maybe puberty will kick in and you won’t sound like a woman when you talk.

That is exactly what he has said he would do. Sell 5 of the helicopters, the MRAPS, close down ILP, get rid of the double dippers and a whole lot more.
