SPORTS WATCHING STANDARDS, really? Is that a class at USF in his masters program? That dude has lost his mind. Couldn't just say, yea a screwed up and take you punishment. Had to deflect and try to put it on others. Bottom line Paul, you were drunk and out of control, again. This time people saw it and you are now accountable for your actions. We'd say take it like a man, but you can't do that.

Alcohol makes people do things that they ordinarily would NOT do. It changes behavior, generally for the worse. It makes people less accountable for their actions. If you want to keep drinking, then that's your business. But if you want to stop drinking, then it's our business.

Sarasota Sheriff's Major Paul Richard

While off-duty, Sarasota Sheriff’s major Paul Richard was accused of drunkenly yelling at a uniformed North Port police officer and others during an Atlanta Braves game.

Two complainants were attending the game with their two boys, who play Little League Baseball, and they saw “a gentleman who was obviously drunk yelling at several people.” He announced he was a major at the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office. The children asked “why is a policeman drunk and yelling at others?” The incident was confirmed by 11 witnesses.

Major Paul Richard was suspended without pay for a week and a day (48 hours) for "conduct unbecoming."

The Herald-Tribune sought comment from Sheriff Tom Knight but “The sheriff has no comment beyond his...”

It's extremely disheartening and disturbing that with 2 victims and 1 on-duty NPPD sergeant and 11 witnesses -- all stating that Paul Richard was grossly intoxicated in public -- Knight still says that there is no evidence that Paul Richard was drunk.

Wasn't Knight also arrested by VPD for disorderly conduct at a bar after drinking too much alcohol?

That’s because Sheriff Knight has never investigated anything other than a traffic crash. Things like witnesses and evidence are foreign to him. 11 witnesses and a nppd sgt! This is why the agency has become a joke. Clueless leader supporting a drunk corrupt command staff. Sheriff Knight needs to retire And take his people with him.

If Knight's statement were not printed in the newspaper, then nobody would believe that he actually said it. Based on Knight's odd statement, it appears he believes he is "wise in his own sight." However, in the sight of others, his reasoning is "black and white illogical." You can't make this stuff up.
