Hi

Thinking about sending an application for the CSO open positions so I could get my feet in law enforcement. I'm just looking for insight of what is it like to work the PD and the city at large.

Apply elsewhere. This place is an overflowing toilet, especially for CSOs. The city and the department treats them like dirt and batters them with a large workload for little money. And you'll struggle to make ends meat due to the low salary and high takeout for pension. You'll deal with many police-type calls, but without the money. The city is dangerous and a cesspool. You will see more as a CSO in a year than a cop elsewhere their entire career. If you would like to transfer over to being a cop, it would be easy but I recommend you do a ride-along here first to see if this is something you want and can handle. Good luck to you.
