We are not against tattoos nor beards. We are against the present unfair and biased movement demonstrated to members now. We are punishing those who grow a beard. We are harassing those and infringing upon their medical conditions and violating their HIPPA rights, while we overlook those so many members who violate the tattoo or skin branding rules. Same Department chapter governs both and supervisors choose to only enforce the beard shaving rule. This is unconstitutionally, ethically and morally wrong. We shall immediately stop confronting those who wish not to shave and cause extensive trauma to their face and necks. We are targeting Afroamerican men and Hispanic men who mostly suffer from this skin condition. Female officers don’t require shaving their faces and those with exposed arm and neck brandings openly violate the rules without ever being spoken to or disciplined. It is time this organization and our union representatives defend our rights as citizens and employees. We need to come together and immediately resolve this serious issue. This is an accredited and professional institution which needs to be free of any profiling or biased treatment of its employees.
