    Jailers

Let me start by saying jailers have a thankless job dealing with the worst people in a closed environment. Not the most positive place to work. And jailers keep getting fired for abuse of inmate related issues (leg sweep of cuffed drunk and kick to the ribs while the inmate does push ups).

My question is this. Why don’t other detention deputies or DD supervisors ever intervene and steer these deputies back into their lane? No one is perfect and EVERYONE deviates from the correct course from time to time. Do DD’s step in and try and end the issue before it goes fully off course?

Of course, but since someone did step in you will never hear about it. Moran has been an idiot from the day he was hired and O'Niel is a follower. Pair that with supervisors who arent paying attention and this is the outcome. Most people at the jail are good, hard working deputies who are just trying to make a good living. Idiots like Moran get weeded out eventually, unfortunately they sometimes take others down with them.

A few years ago a patrol sergeant kicked a suspect who was lying face down on the ground in the ribs, on video, and omitted the use of force from his report. The suspect was not actively resisting and was compliant. The video was reviewed by his supervisor and all the sergeant got was a 24 hour suspension and a lateral transfer. Bob likes Patrol but hates D&C so the jail deputies get harsher punishments.

It's a fact that Bob hates D&C deputies and the record is very clear on this. There is no other way to explain the disparity in disciplinary actions since he became sheriff.

Well,Well,Well!!!!! This is certainly no surprize. Didnt your mamas ever teach you ignorant deputies that you keep your hands to yourself and no kicking!!!! I don't give a damn what position you hold you just don't do shit like that!!!! Would it be justified for a jailer to do to you just for shit and giggles???? I think not!!!!! You are worthless to begin with then you pull this!! You have zero respect to begin with! If you cant do your job or at least pretend you know what your doing then maybe you need to turn in your useless badge and stop taking taxpayers money! You did PCSO proud once again,LMAO

It is common knowledge around the jail that Moran (and others) are not the people they used to be when they started out on the job. Especially in the last 3-4 years the job stress has really got to them and has negatively affected their common sense and most importantly their temperament. Moran is just the latest example of such jail deputies who need psych counseling and therapy, and possibly medications in order to control their anger and do the job correctly. It is a form of PTSD. I am not condoning or making excuses for what Moran did but this is a case of an employee who needs help rather than a bad employee who should be fired. The jail is a pressure cooker waiting to explode and Moran's actions are symptoms of the problems which the jail administration has failed to address for many years. As for the sheriff, he is too quick to fire people and brag about it to enhance his own political career, rather than back up his deputies who have PTSD and help them get the treatment they need.

"During the news conference, Gualtieri said the Sheriff's Office does not implement push-ups or any physical labor as punishment."

Bob is either incredibly stupid or ignorant of the criminal justice system and jail approved jail procedures. The inmates like the one in the incident are county sentenced to work as punishment. Pushups have been used as an approved form of punishment at the jail for many years. The inmates prefer it because they do not lose time and it saves staff the paperwork associated with DR's and incident reports. Also there is nothing in the General Orders prohibiting jail deputies to order inmates to do push ups as "alternative punishment" or cleaning up for example. It's done all the time. As a matter of fact it is encouraged by the jail command staff to reduce paperwork and get the county sentenced inmates out of the facility on time, which also saves the taxpayers money.
