Look Knight has devastated this agency, and moral has been at an all time low for years. He disbanded the Homeland Security Unit. He cannot obtain an FBI Secret Clearance to be briefed on any threats in the area and if anyone does not think their are larger threats than just property crimes out there all you need to look to is the fact that Atta and some of his conspirators were training in Venice. The Sheriff's Office cooperates with no other agencies anymore, we are thought of as a laughing stalk and cannot be trusted by many of them. Knight has systematically closed more and more locations and offices at the Sheriff's Office than any Sheriff before him. His Deputies and Civilian Staff are the lowest paid in the area even though we are one of the top 5 wealthiest counties in the state. They have no problem spending money on whatever they want but they refuse to pay overtime to put more Deputies on the road.

Just about all his staff has questionable backgrounds and he seems to prefer that so he has something on them. Look he needs to go! All he does is put down the Deputies. He goes into in-service and tells Deputies to find someone to run against him because he thinks elections are fun. If members of the public read this please convince John Kost to run and back him all the way. We will all have a Sheriff's Office to be proud of again and truly a community you can feel safe living in. I tell you more Deputies are concerned about doing their jobs because under Knight and his command staff like Walsh and Richard the only recognition they will get is negative. I can tell you that the outward facade is just that a facade.

John Kost has always been a person of integrity who truly cares about his people and the safety of the community. He has a very impressive background all the way from being a beat cop to working some of our most sophisticated counter intelligence investigations. I would seriously ask our local news groups to take a very serious look at John you will be very pleased with him. I also ask our community leaders to seriously look at John, ask to meet with him, hear him speak, you will quickly find out that Knight is not the Sheriff you want. How can the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the county be unable to briefed by members of his own agency who do hold security clearances? Think about how serious that is! So what does a guy like Knight do when he cannot be briefed, he disbands them, thus endangering the community.

No some shmo from the SO will probably try to rebut what was said here by making you think Knight has this and he has that blah blah blah I tell you again its a facade. I am sure it will be someone like Richard or Walsh who tries to do it. What I ask is take a hard look for yourself, if you look hard enough you will find the truth.

• Get the financial backing of the local Sarasota GOP. They have a master list of super doners, to include corporations. The super doners will donate the maximum amount legal amount to a campaign. For example, if super doner X owns 10 corporations, then he can legally make 11 contributions for $200 each which is $2200 total. That's just one example. Eric Robinson is in charge of the super doner list. As a recent example, the Sarasota GOP supported Knight in the 2008 election -- and Knight's campaign contributions were the largest raised in the history of Sarasota County (for sheriff).
• Get the support of the local Sarasota GOP. They have a master list of the Republican super voters who vote in every election. That includes their home addresses. If you go door-to-door cold-calling, you ONLY want to hit the super voters homes. The Sarasota GOP will not surrender the Republican super voter list outside of the Sarasota GOP inner circle.

Can you win a sheriffs election without Sarasota GOP support? Well, miracles do happen, but they are MIRACLES. It is what it is.
