If you retired or left the military due to PTSD, no Law Enforcement agency Psych Doctor is going to sign off on you. I'm talking about if you were officially diagnosed by military doctors as having PTSD. A LEO career is probably not going to happen, unless you go work for an agency that does not require psych exam.

Nobody is going to put themselves at that potential risk. Nothing against anyone with some PTSD history, it's just how it is. Nobody like risks these days and that's right up there with vehicle pursuits. You may be able to land a school guardian job or work in a casino or something but think about this in terms of the world we live in. Also, if YOU DO have PTSD issues, is law enforcement going to make you all happy warm and fuzzy inside happily ever after?

This man or woman fought for their country and risked their life and you mock them for having a mental condition related to it? You are either an immature brat or you are one stupid a**hole. Its people like you that spat on the vietnam vets and called them babykillers. You are a sorry motherf*****er.

Apply, as long as you were not discharged for the condition then you are ok. Everyone in the military that served in combat has ptsd, I dont care how strong minded you are. Even working a midnight shift here in the patrol gives you PTSD, especially after putting up with all the dispatchers and their x13 checks.
Thank you for your service and good luck.

The only thing I suggest is to stay out of this site. You will find all disgruntled types here, very few will actually give you good advice. You are better off contacting a recruiter if they deny you.
Dont sweat it, go thru the process. This hiring thing with FHP is got or miss. I have been a trooper for 17 years and I've seen all types come and go. My cousin applied and was denied because he showed deception on a polygraph question. The kid has a perfect life and as honest as one can be, instead, we hire others that can't barely speak nor write English and were gang members. Dont ask me how, this hiring process is like the lottery. Good luck

That's for sure. FHP rejected my son who was as squeaky clean as they come. He ended up going into the service in the intelligence field. He now makes six figures working for a contractor at a three letter agency in VA...I was real butt hurt over it at the time but it was the best thing that ever happened to him.
I know some jerk off is going to come on here and say he was hiding something. Not the case. He takes a yearly poly and complete background check. Just shows you what kind of morons are in charge of this stuff. I retired quite a while ago things may have changed but I doubt it.
To the op good luck and thanks for your service.
