2018 Annual Report what a bunch of BS
Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight today announced the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office 2018 Annual Report is available online.
The publication provides an overview of important local issues including crime statistics, the budget, traffic, and more. The document also reviews the agency’s Administrative, Law Enforcement and Courts and Corrections divisions, their varied responsibilities, and how each serves the citizens of Sarasota County. The report summarizes key activities during Sheriff Knight’s tenth year in office, including red tide clean-up efforts and the utilization of DNA technology to solve a nearly 20-year-old homicide.
“Twenty eighteen was a great year for Sarasota County and for the men and women of the sheriff’s office,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “Crime continues to decline and our workforce is stronger than ever. We are excited to release this report because it gives us the opportunity to highlight our methods of contemporary policing, a practice that works well for the community we serve.”
What a joke!! Cut cut and more cut. The best of all is the quote. Knight is delusional "Twenty eighteen was only great for you Tommy Boy" what did it bring the citizens of Sarasota County? Less Deputies on the road, closing of School Resource, the LOWEST PAID AGENCY in the county as well as surrounding counties by far! Oh and welcome to 2019 No south county office or desk deputies. Knight has to go. A sheriff is needed who boosts moral, and treats his people fairly.
As far as red tide clean-up yeah the SSO did nothing. I am sure there was some BS pic somewhere showing a Deputy picking up a dead fish or something but large scale clean-up yeah no way!
Oh and DNA, that has nothing to do with the SSO that comes from the state, nice try trying to take credit!

Knight has had an opportunity to lobby the county commissioners for the last 10 years to get the money to build a new central county jail, but instead of doing that, Knight got himself a brand new office for himself. A jail is needed significantly more than a new office for Knight.

Knight's lack of "strategic planning" for jail needs
"Strategic planning" is the ability to look and the current situation and then to project future needs. When Knight first came here 10 years ago, he complained that the jail was not big enough and was overcrowded. He has had 10 years of jail overcrowding to deal with today's jail problems.
QUESTION: For the last 10 years, why hasn't Knight asked the county commissioners to prepare to build a new jail facility?
ANSWER: Incompetence? A lack of ability to strategically plan for the needs of Sarasota County? A lack of resolve?
