Will the County Asssit the Beach?

Once again the Beach PD has been overwhelmed by the thugs who have descended upon this part of paradise. It is obvious that the Beach does not have the resources (personnel) needed to effectively deal with this situation despite their best efforts. It is a fact that most of the thugs arrested are not college students or gainfully employed, but rather reside just across the causeway in Miami-Dade County. They pose a threat not only to the officers out on the street but also to those visitors and residents who are here to enjoy their weekend in a peaceful manner. All of this chaos is caused by the continued political pandering and correctness exhibited by spineless politicians who assured everyone last year that this type of criminal behavior would not be tolerated; again they lied. Can anyone advise if the county will be sending RID and/or other units to assist the Beach. Our brother police officers deserve this support.

Yes, they will. At least in Intracoastal they are sending bodies on overtime. They were making a list for Friday night into Saturday morning.

Why are we sending our people, on County overtime to bail out Miami Beach on a problem that they have created and support.
Their problem due to political pandering; let them handle it.

Can anyone say what Juan Perez' rank was in 2001? We ask for he might remember what MDPD did to assist Miami Beach, when the Source Awards for that year where scheduled to take place at the Jackie Gleason Theater. Reeling still from a similar fiasco a month earlier, as it just occurred this past weekend; where Miami Beach P D got caught unprepared and under-staffed, Mayor Penelas directed the County Manager to instruct MDPD to prepare an Operational Plan and to engage it as part of our assistance to Miami Beach. We did and it worked well, in spite the fact that tens of thousands Hip Hop enthusiasts descended on Miami Beach. Not until our last Mobile Field Force made its way back over the MacArthur Causeway, on Tuesday, at about 4:00 am, did we hear a major incident go down at a club. Miami Beach P D handled it. Our mission was simple, arrest when you must, otherwise engage in a pervasive deployment that conveys command presence. In other words, we are in charge! Though we made few arrests, we were ready for mass arrests, consistent with our Mobilization and Emergency Operations Plan. As part of our modified Incident Command System, we had pre-notified SAO, The Clerk of the Courts and Chief Judge. We also enlisted Corrections Department; they were on site with buses and personnel.

Miami Beach P.D., at best is staffed by 400 sworn members; that includes supervisors and command officers, it cannot effectively manage an invasion of thousands of "fun loving" Urban Youths to its jurisdiction. Of course our parsimonious elected and appointed officials do not want to spend the money to pay for an effective, robust, multi-agency police presence to deal with the "worst case scenario" multitudinous events generate. Then when "it" happens, they panic! So how do we pay for such mass mobilization? Our de facto "sheriff," Carlos Gimenez, AKA Miami-Dade's "strong mayor," should tap into the Tourist and Convention Development Taxes on Transient Rentals, open and read the below link. Do not and soon the negative publicity these riotous events generate, will bar paying tourists from visiting. After all, who would want visit a city where crime and disorders rules?

Hey Kitty Cat, look at your badge and read what's inscribed therein. It say Sheriff's Office, Dade County FLA., DEPUTY SHERIFF! Miami Beach is a municipality within Dade County; ergo when requested, under Florida Statute, Chapter 23, FLORIDA MUTUAL AID ACT, MDPD must respond.
