Unless there is a major scandal involving the sheriff in the local media, the answer is NOBODY!

If anyone from the agency would run against Gualtieri they'd have to resign first, then run. Nobody is willing to give up a cushy command post and a fat paycheck just to lose an election, knowing full well Gualtieri wouldn't hire them back even as a jailer.

If anyone runs against Gualtieri it would be an outsider but there is nobody with the background and qualifications who is retired willing to do it. As for SPPD's Chief Holloway, he is happy with his job and working on his second pension, so he ain't going anywhere.

Like it or not we are stuck with Gualtieri until 2024 unless something drastic happens.

She was an affirmative action promotion, double minority, to fill a quota thanks to Coats, and a clueless figurehead. Davis wanted to convert North Division into a votech school for inmates and had other grand hug-a-thug socialist plans. She is the one who pushed to convert the old county bus garage into the jail annex which wasted $9 million, was too staff intensive to run and ended up as Safe Harbor housing for street bums. Definitely a liberal Democrat. Most likely it was Gualtieri who ran the show for Coats who booted her out. She retired with less than 2 years on the job. Davis was one of the worst promotions ever at the jail from a long list of lousy ones. She could run as a Democrat against Gualtieri but she does not have the intelligence to do so.
