Why would they? Things need to change to recruit more and keep retention in Florida and around the country. Support law enforcement, stop with all the politics and B.S.. we deal with enough B.S. from the public. We don't need more within the agency. I know a lot of "older" LEOs that have left and are planning to leave and move on to something different... some of these high paid office admin people need to listen to their staff and take a few business management classes. If a lot of employees are leaving, it is likely a management issue.. pretty basic.

While you are correct in the statement, the problem is if a sheriff office has a dedicated traffic unit that works wrecks and S7 (Polk, Miami, Jacksonville, etc) the deputies who work on those units have just as much training, if not more (due to budget), that troopers get. So if a Sgt from FHP left to a large SO with a traffic unit, not only would he start at the bottom as a deputy, but when the time comes to compete for a Sgt over traffic he/she is may not necessarily be any more qualified the the competitor.
