A few thousand bucks per vehicle adds up. Cost will always be the deciding factor in purchases. also, DMS dictates what class of vehicles we can purchase without justification being a big part of the process. So they cost more and it is hard to justify the purchase are just a couple reasons. I bet you can think of a few reasons too.

Trucks are cool. When you are with your peers from other agencies, they can ogle your F150 but the truth is we don't need them. The trucks in use today have hauled 58 times more personal stuff than evidence. Why do you think you need a truck?

Rumor has it we can replace a truck with a truck but can’t buy additional trucks. So those that have trucks will be lucky enough to eventually get new trucks. Rumor has it someone with a truck in Orlando was just offered a new truck to replace theirs.

All rumors. None were purchased this year. We need new cars in high numbers and trucks just cost too much. Not to mention the gas. The nissans fusions and what we are getting this year use about 1/8 in gas a truck uses.

Semi-new trucks on the truck!!!
In an attempt to appease the masses, the leadership has given me the OK to announce a new partnership that will place semi-newish trucks in to the fleet. The program details are still a work in progress, but it is anticipated to work like this:
Once your beverage hauler reaches 274,00 miles, a call is placed to Buck's Trucks Rehab and Melon Farm. The work release prisoners at Buck's will begin a full semi professional restoration, using only the finest low bid materials and workmanship. The interior will be pressure washed and new foam will be stuffed into the seat frame. All the trash will be removed from under the seats and all the dried boogers scrapped as well. You will have the choice of tan, medium tan and dark tan for the interior. The exterior will be white, light white or dark white. Every rehab will include a pack of razor blades to scrape off the overspray from headlights and instrument panels. The drive train will be subbed out to the Uncle Fred's Work Time Day Care & Vo-Tech which is located next to Buck's, to avoid additional delay and shipping costs. Little things like tires, brakes and shocks will be inspected too. Tires with cords showing will be rebuilt to the highest standard enacted by the TTB (Tim's Tire Bureau). Metal to metal pads and drums will get special attention as well. No detail will be overlooked and Buck is committed to your continued driving enjoyment!!!!
