    When people with good potential are promoted too fast they implode. They lack the experience to make better decisions. This is especially true when they are still learning their job as a detective and are moved from detective to corporal to sergeant in record time. It’s unfair to the employee and the unit. This is a repeated mistake by Bob and the trio from hell. They push people who can’t walk yet to fly. Then they blame the bench for being empty. Bob has been saying that for years. No Bob, it’s not empty, it just doesn’t have who you like on it. And on occasion you promote someone who should have never, ever been promoted and they become exactly what everyone else knew they would.

    Listen Car 1’s ball washer, for starters he violated the shot out of the LEO contract. He has promoted people to sergeant who were not eligible, were not on the list or just got here. Examples exist in Flight and the Geek Computer Forensics Unit. I’ve lost count of the number of lieutenants who were promoted at never took the test. Only reason that happens is because no one sues. Why have a policy, test and all that if you’re just going to promote who you want?

    And experience alone is not the best predictor of a good supervisor, but lack of it is. I like your use of the word slug. I’m curious how active was the majority of the command staff? They throw that term around a lot. And they act like they want active deputies. But it’s the active deputies who get disciplined the most. I’d LOVE to see the last time a deputy was disciplined for being a “slug”. In fact name one.

    And you passed over the majority of people on the lieutenant list. And countless others have been passed over on the sergeants list. But thank you for Dorr, Ortiz, Brueckner, Papamichael, Williams, McKnight, Campbell, etc, etc, etc. all wonderful picks!!!!

    Below are two posts that take both sides of the argument. One side says it's Bob's fault for promoting butt kissers and ball lickers. The other side says it's because the "long timers" don't deserve a promotion can't handle the pressure.

    The REALITY of the situation is that after many years of hiring people at the lower end of the intelligence scale so that they would just do as they are told without asking many questions, the entire pool of PCSO potential promotional candidates is unqualified and unable to handle the tasks at hand. But one handful of idiots thinks that they are better qualified than the other handful of idiots. But you are just comparing idiots to idiots. While there are a select few that might not screw the pooch if promoted, they are far and few between and even that will require a lot of luck that nothing too difficult comes their way. The entire agency is like a bad episode of the Keystone cops and there is no round of promotions from within that will possibly change that. The PCSO is screwed no matter what Bob does, but that won't prevent him from pretending that everything is just fine in hopes that John Q. Public never finds out how truly incompetent he really is.
