    You better wake up “Brass!”

    https://www.tampabay.com/breaking-ne...says-20190225/

You think this won’t happen again @HCSO! Obviously PTSD was possibly a big factor in this and other suicides, but there is more to it than PTSD! How many in our organization are feeling this way? Not necessarily due to PTSD but due to the uncaring “Brass” who live in the ivory tower(SOC)making decisions that will effect deputies economic livelihood and general well being, because they are or already have been thrown away and discarded(TERMINATED)or are about to be! Years of service ignored and discounted by obtuse so called leaders!! Don’t get on your soap box to say “your heart goes out to the family!”, when you in fact dug the hole they are now laid in! Shame on you! You will answer to a higher power eventually and all your polished CABS and crisp uniforms won’t mean diddly!!!! And to all you kool-aid drinkers STFU by keeping your cake holes shut and realize your just as guilty as the Brass and your time will come too!

Occupational burnout. 100% preventable. Occupational PTSD. 100% preventable. This forum has been begging for changes to be made on how thing are run to prevent these things. How short we are staffed, how short handed these squads are, the amount of calls we now take that we should not and would have been canceled years ago. Its time to monitor and limit our exposure to so many high stress calls. Every day there are more and more houses, apartments, businesses, roads, crashes, shootings, people, violence, death, stress, and so on.. However, less of us? They dispatch us to calls we have no business going to. Our exposure has quadrupled in the past 5 years. Yet, there is no means to limit it or to monitor us. All we have is BS EAP. EAP is reactive. How about be proactive prevent the need to need EAP. How is it ok to be dispatched to a rape, child abuse, crash with injuries after already being on shift 12 hours and having to return the next day? Make sleep for night shift units a priority. There should be more units and overlap units to buffer this. How does a 170 year old agency not have this figured out?

I can count using only my own ten fingers the number of shifts I had to stay late working day shift for the entire 2018 year. It seems the few disgruntled deputies that use this site like to exaggerate their issues.

If we already have to worry about getting hurt or killed. Why dont they try to make things better to at least offset that constant never ending worry?? Maybe have the report nazi’s and polici nazi’s and nit pick fools to back off.

Maybe you work on a squad with bosses that actually care and get you home. Even dispatch has been horrible about dispatching 2 minutes before logging off.

You took a high risk job that earns you a high risk retirement among many other nice perks. If you are confused about what you signed up for perhaps you can give those luxuries up and find a career designed for your type.

You seem to be missing the point! We understand what we got into! That’s not the problem. No support from our leaders is what the problem is! It’s not about the money, it’s about caring for your fellow brother or sister!! It’s about having their backs. All this agency seems to care about is it’s image, period! When tragedy strikes, like just what happened In Pasco, they put out their pre package dribble! Spare us with that rhetoric. Take a look at the mess you(the Brass)have created! Get off the tele and figure out the existing problems and fix them!!!!!

You worthless POS! You get the honor of working for the most progressive agency in Florida and you have the nerve to complain about it??? Nobody...NOBODY...has promoted more women or minorities to high positions. You losers and your caveman mentality need to be weeded out and fired. Anyone who gives an anonymous tip to the brass (as you sarcastically call your leaders) about who the big mouth disloyal scum are deserves to be promoted. Show how you’re a loyal soldier and you should be rewarded. Help get the disloyal failures identified so the agency can continue to get better.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call discrimination, racism, and sexism.
