Signal 32
Look, it is very sad that a person decided to end their life this way. It is tragic.
What I don't get is all the "You're never alone...we care stuff" coming out. No you don't. Think of all the people that have left while dealing with personal issues or medical. Did the agency reach out? Probably not. Did the union? Nope. DID YOU REACH OUT to your former brother/sister? Doubtful.
The fact is that this agency has repeatedly discarded deputies and employees. They "The Agency" are seldom there to help those that are injured or going through tough times.
"We Fail Alone" should be the motto.

If I'am not mistaking, unless you are vested, your not eligible for disability retirement from the State. The real costs to the Agency is all your medical bills, meds etc for the duration of your life. Not being fit to return to work, will get you canned, purely a fiscal decision. So if you get your legs crushed directing traffic, and your not vested, you will lose your job, will not be eligible for a pension, and will be living on SSI the rest of your life. The State, County, and Sheriff are okay with that, because none of them have ever stepped up to the plate to change this. Any mental or other condition that is duty connected is even worse. Dont patronize us with your supportive but non binding comments, that changes none of this.

Dont patronize us with your poor spelling, pitiful use of grammar and not having an idea of what you're talking about "If I'am not mistaking"
"First Responder Workers’ Compensation
Priority Statement:
The Florida League of Cities is monitoring legislation that creates a significant fiscal impact on
taxpayer-funded workers’ compensation costs for first responders by increasing benefits for mental
injuries.
Position Summary:
Under current law, first responders suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may
receive medical benefits and care under workers’ compensation. However, these benefits do not
include wage, or what is referred to as indemnity, benefits that provide payment for time lost from
work. Under bills being considered during the 2018 legislative session, workers’ compensation
benefits would be expanded to include wage benefits for first responders suffering from PTSD. The
Florida League of Cities worked with the Senate and House bill sponsors to narrow the scope of the
bills and now the League no longer opposes the legislation.
Background:
An employee who suffers an accidental compensable injury or death arising out of activities
performed in the course and the scope of the employment is entitled to compensation and benefits
under Chapter 440, Florida Statute (workers' compensation). Generally, employers may secure
coverage for workers' compensation claims from an authorized carrier, qualify as a self-insurer or
purchase coverage from a specified insurer of last resort"
"Because cities and counties in Florida employ almost all first responders, cities and counties will
incur almost all the estimated fiscal impact of legislation seeking to increase workers’ compensation
benefits for first responders. The Florida League of Cities advocates maintaining a uniform and
comprehensive workers’ compensation system for all employees, regardless of the particular job of
an employee. Police officers and firefighters already enjoy significant protections under workers’
compensation laws that are not available to other employees"
So are you mistaken?

a change made in 2018. Sure that is nice (or at least better) going forward. What about all the people screwed over prior?
Did anyone ever step up? NOPE. Nocho was and is the worst example of a POS elected official.
He's screwed more people than the average street pimp.

Couldn't have said it better myself ! Nacho and his COC don't give two shits about any of the employees or what they're going through emotionally, mentally, etc.. He's just giving us lip service and trying to make people think he actually cares.. There is not a sympathetic or empathetic bone in that mans body! Where was all the help when many employees with emotional issues needed it??? 5 free visits then its out of your own pocket. Nacho truly is the biggest POS Pasco ever had! If you were drowning he would throw you a brick instead of a life preserver !
