The origins of blackface was stereotypes of blacks usually done by whites, casting blacks in a often demeaning way. This type of entertainment was usually done for comedy. Stereotypes which have at its core, a certain amount of truth to it, has all but disappeared being performed by whites. Black entertainers, comedians, and TV sitcoms featuring blacks, have thrived by reinforcing stereotypes of blacks and whites. Yet there is no cry to boycott or punish any of this programs for doing exactly what "blackface" of yester years evoked, why not? If its wrong, anybody doing it should be punished, right? Sort of falls into the same category of using the NWord. We can say and use it and do it, but the white man cannot! Another topic of selected outrage, that only applies to whites and political enemies. If it is offensive, then no one should do it, period! This is why anybody being singled out for this selective outrage should not back down until this double standard is equally enforced.
