The HONORABLE Sheriff David Clarke was a republican sheriff
Sometimes it's the community that forces that gross stigma
When Israel switched his lifelong Republican party for the Dems, he did it for all the wrong reasons, he did for himself, NOT for the people of Broward, that's why he has ZERO support

So when you get rid of a last dozen Hitlers, it will be magically better? You're giving the lauderdale people to much perceived power. They didnt come in in 6 years and destroy the place. Its been eroding internally from decades of unchecked abuse and the handful of people you speak of will make no difference. Neither will mediocre tony. An agency of 5000+ isn't destabilized by 20 people and playing a shell game by incessantly promoting the same rejects that have added to the abscess over the years, wont make things better. It makes the few that were promoted feel like somebody's and for the rest, its business as miserable usual- it doesn't improve morale. It will take a powerhouse at the top to truly rebuild. Not an unknown gym rat with mediocre skills and soon to be disproved qualifications that will destroy him come election time. Tony's indiscriminate "cleaning up" as a temporary unknown was a political mistake and poorly thought out. Hes a novice to police work, administration and politics. People will not foolishly throw money at another nothing.

Not really the same as far as experience, Lemma, Cronister, and Marceno were all high ranking command staff who had years of experience in law enforcement, Marceno was the undersheriff when appointed, cronister was a major who was handpicked by the previous sheriff, and Lemma was also an undersheriff prior to appointment. Not one of this group was a sgt from a small agency.

I was talking about the appointees not running.... most do. Wasn’t talking about their experience level ( as all of them had over 20 years of LEO experience) just the comment on the Gentlemen’s Agreement Winch is an Urban Legend.

Go outside and look IN the window
That's not the sentiment outside of the agency. Ask people. They're all in for Tony and he'll probably win in a landslide. AA, Jews and the money in north Broward, they're already out there. People love an underdog who comes from left field. Black guy from Philly, a college walk on for football, he's got a great story and the public doesn't want a career law enforcement guy who has been embroiled in Broward politics. And, they don't work in the agency and don't care about who was qualified, or who deserved it. The voters elect the Sheriff. Tony is the antithesis of Scott Israel and that's all he needs to make it to the finish line. Think about it. One guy is talking about AST and the other is manipulating senior citizens. Israel has lost blacks, hispanic, jews. He has some leftovers in the gay community and some at Century Village who may expire by 2020. When your base is wearing rainbow scarves or Depends, you appear to be anything but a lion. The best thing about Tony seems to be that he is an inclusion guy, at least he says he is. We'll see about that. The mere fact that he STATES that he will consider the input of what he describes as an agency of talented individuals is huge. The former administration was an obvious dictatorship and appeared to be just that from the outside looking in. Still, the association with Rose does nothing re-establish public trust. They come across to the public as manipulative co-conspirators. Time will tell, but there's already significant momentum for Tony. Truth is, democrats love a cool black guy. Broward is left, left left. May not be what everyone wanted, but at least there's a chance to work toward undoing the Broward Coward label. Israel digs himself a deeper hole at every event. Hope he is booked with speaking engagements.

OMG. Do we have a PR firm for Tony already? Tony is in way over his head. I don’t want it to happen, but if another incident happens on Tonys watch, what will have changed? He has changed nothing in the first 30 days other than Colonels, majors and beard policies
