Sheriff Tom Knight tries to undercut Florida courts
This savvy political and legislative endeavor is being attempted as a local Sarasota GOP favor to Sheriff Tom Knight -- and it shows who is in bed with who. This is also a well oiled and soiled political payback (dirt) that cannot be cleansed with soap. It can only be cleansed with the removal of Sheriff Tom Knight and Chief Deputy Kurt Hoffman from the Sarasota Sheriff's Office.
- FIRST COURT BATTLE: The last court battle was between Sheriff Tom Knight and the chief judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit. The appeals court subsequently ruled against Knight, stating that a chief judge has the legal right to tell Sheriff Knight if, when and where Knight must provide security in and for court buildings in Sarasota County.

. - NEXT UP: LEGISLATIVE BATTLE: Joe Gruters has now proposed a bill that will take that historical authority away from a chief judge and, instead, will give it to a sheriff, not just in Sarasota County, but statewide throughout Florida. If Bills H337, H639 or S762 pass, then Knight will be able to legally overrule a chief judge in determining if, when and where security must be provided in court buildings.

. - BACKGROUND: In the previous court battle that Knight lost, Knight obstinately said it was his legal prerogative to completely withdraw security from some court buildings, thus allowing all armed civilians to enter those court buildings. As a result, armed people who did not have gun permits were allowed to enter those court buildings because Knight negligently abandoned those security checkpoints -- until an appellate court ordered Knight to reinstate security.
In an age of mass shootings, why is Knight so hellbent on allowing guns into court buildings? Please feel free to ask Joe Gruters and Kurt Hoffman for more political and legal commentary on this unfolding knightmare.

We... need... integrity... and we don't have it!
The feud between Knight and the chief judge is "normal" for Knight because Knight has a history of being tempermental and vindictive. For example, just a few months ago, Knight feuded with the school superintended and then tried to get revenge by sabotaging the school SRO budget (how is that for immaturity?):

That led to the Sarasota school system forming it's own police department, just to distance itself from Knight's infamous and vindictive politics:

Then Knight was caught calling other elected officials names via text and while on-duty (again, how's that for vindictive maturity?):

If you always do, what you've always done, then you'll always get, what you've always got: a publicized knightmare at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
We… need… integrity… and we don’t have it…

These threads get so stupid. Good luck attacking the incumbent on this site because that's all the coverage anyone will get. Instead, money and contacts will win the day. Again. You can hate the game, but hating the player makes you look foolish. The petty jealousies of seasoned SSO law enforcement officers, who feel they are better qualified, is pathetic.

Truth
You are so right. Knight and his crew are untouchable. They can do what they want to who they want whenever they want. The game is rigged and you will loose. Show up, shut up, and do as you are told.

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." (Proverbs 29:2)
People know that the current rule is dangerous. But seriously, every dog has his day. Good kings and evil kings cannot stay in power forever. Eventually, they must leave the throne. It is impossible for Knight and Hoffman to be a miraculous exception to this eternal rule. Even Adolf Hitler believed himself to be a good man. Stay safe.

You are a typical low education SSO employee (troll). I have a full and diverse local LE career, thanks, and I have done many things, including being a detective. The trouble with "law enforcement types" that never do anything else is that you think that no one else can run an agency without "coming up through the ranks." While there is merit to some of that experience, you must admit that LEADERSHIP and organizational management skills are domain immaterial. In addition, the SSO, like it or not, is a political entity, which requires political savvy. Quite frankly, the law enforcement part of the job is the easiest. It's not rocket science, as is evidenced by many trolls who wear a SSO badge. Let me know if you need help with any of the big words.

Nobody cares
It has become evident that nobody on the third floor cares what you think. And even if they spoke to you it would be career suicide to tell them the truth. Just smile and stfu. It’s the only way to survive. Anybody who has tried to make positive changes has been run out of this place.

3rd floor bobble heads
Mr. Tom Knight and Herr Kurt Hoffman are both very unique because if you try to point out problems to them, by providing solutions, then they take the criticism personally, as if you are directly criticizing them or their [in]competence. They take constructive criticisms personally, which is politically dangerous, instead objectively looking at conversations from a purely objective and professional perspective. That's why rank and file folks don't talk to them anymore. Instead, it's politically safer to:
- Continue collecting a paycheck.
- Avoid all contact with Knight and Hoffman.
- If eye contact is unavoidable in the hallway, then smile and nod, but keep walking, as if you are on an important mission from God.
- If communication is forced on you, then continue smiling and nodding, even if you feel like a bobble head.

Stay away
Stay as far away from HQ as possible! If you don’t go there you will never see any of those people. They would never lower themselves to come out and see you. If you want to survive stay away! Nights englewood would be recommend.
