    Advice from a Old Timer

Ran into somebody that retired a couple of years ago, talked about the Agency, some of things that been going on around here. He told me that the job itself has to be its on reward. If you are expecting high praise and accolades for everything you do, your going to be disappointed. He worked with many in todays COC. All you need to know is that they are not personality driven. There is no fraternal connection to you or anything you have ever done here. Bob's decisions are final, and no one in the COC will stick their necks out for you. The management team is just as apt to be run off as any deputy. Bob expects you to do your job, but if he deems you have erred, there simply is no grey area or mitigation considered. Since police work is more times than not, done in different shades of grey, you truly are one judgement call away from a suspension or worse. Bob got elected, being a hard nose with employee discipline, the public loves it! The mistake you will make, is thinking that your experience and many years of being a good employee matters, it doesn't. Never forget that.

Lets not forget he fired how many for loafing as well. A sergeant and dour deputies? And the lieutenant would have been fired too but he resigned. So don’t think their lack of mercy is just for those who make mistakes while trying to be cops. The easiest way to stay clean is by doing your job, writing a good report that matches any video. Articulate what you did and why. You can’t articulate why you did nothing. Just don’t get too creative or go too far out on a limb. That doesn’t mean don’t arrest anyone as some slackers be done.

Well let's not forget that he also did NOT fire Deputy Paul Martin for "loafing" or stealing payroll when Martin was located multiple times at his home while he was supposed to be on duty. Sgt. Klein actually followed him home multiple times, then called Martin from outside his house and Martin lied claiming he was in Tampa at the SAO or dong some other interview. This was documented 5 or 6 times and each time Martin lied about being somewhere else and not at home while Klein was sitting out in front of Martin's home watching his unit in the driveway. Then Luben followed up with all of the places Martin claimed he was and of course, he was never there. Martin got a 1 day suspension with Bob personally signing off on it.

This is because Paul Martin’s family has a lot of money, and they give a good sum to the sheriff every year. Why do you think Paul was a detective for so many years, and a sub par detective. They prolonged the IA investigation so long that he was able to reach twenty five years to retire.

In other words, don't stick your neck out for nothing and nobody, keep a low profile, stay as far away from Bob and his command stooges as possible, because we are only here for the paycheck and the pension.

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a
courthouse is this: You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt
Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of
lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

And here is the file where Martin threatened the man.

This one is my personal favorite. Compare this invest to anything anyone has been fired for for the last 8 years. It also shows how Martin had some serious psychological issues. He had a great wife, a loving family and this is how he spent his time while a PCSO deputy, both on duty and off. Compare this to what Hull, Parsons, Moffett, Callus andmany more were fired for. Hell, look at Britt's termination for "trying" to pay a woman for sex when Martin paid this one 150 times at $100 bucks a pop. Then ask yourself if punishments are handed out fairly around here.

In this investigation, Pinellas County Florida Sheriff's Deputy Paul Martin is clearly found to be not working when on duty, visiting prostitutes while on duty, having sex while on duty and in uniform and in his patrol car, buying drugs, giving a crack whore over $15,000 for drugs and sex, having the crack whore at his house and meeting his kids while he was married and even picking her up and taking her to buy drugs in his wife's car, interfering in a domestic violence investigation to prevent his prostitute from getting arrested, informing the prostitutes drug dealer about an upcoming raid, having the drug dealer over to his home (he could describe the inside of deputy Martin's home, his family and knew his kid's names), setting up prostitution deals with his friends, taking the crack whore to Orlando for a police convention and paying her with $300 worth of drugs, buying and using drugs himself and more. The "woman" even details in her deposition under oath how Deputy Martin would be played by her. She would call him up, tell him a stoiry about being drug sick and needing her drugs, Deputy Martin would come pick her up, driver her over to her dealer's house, give her the money for the drugs, watch her do the drugs and then demand sex from her. She even told him one time that she was pregnant with his child and got him to giver her money for an abortion when she was never pregnant. She would also have Deputy Martin come pick her up to take her to buy drugs, give her the money and then woman would stay inside the drug dealer's house all night with Martin sitting out front getting pissed and blowing up her phone because he was expecting sex for the money he gave her for the drugs. Martin also threatened the drug dealer too to keep away from "his girl". This is also when Deputy ?Martin was married with children. Sheriff Robert Gualtieri helped bury this investigation and made sure that deputy Martin faced no charges and was not fired. This is the kind of deputy that Pinellas County Sheriff Robert Gualtieri keeps on staff at the PCSO.

Ok. What you have there is an idiot deputy who did the investigation. It was approved by a supervisor who lacks the will to see things for what they are. And whoever filed the complaint chose to make it a level 3 charge. At the very worse you can only get a reprimand. That should have been a level 5 and investigated as a crime. That was Lisa poor investigating. A sergeant should have gone to that call, not a deputy.
