Is Sheriff scared of black people? at MLK Parade?
First time I’ve seen a Sheriff being shadowed by SWAT members at a parade. Were they shadowing him at the Gasparilla Children’s Parade? Or just the MLK event? Just asking. Does the Sheriff carry a gun or a pen?

... but BDU uniform pants and/or outer vests look too "aggressive" for patrol. Instead, let's protect the Sheriff with the SWAT team, because that isn't aggressive looking at all. Don't forget the four or five guys you don't see in the back of the Tahoe loaded down with full auto's.

I don’t know if the sheriff was shadowed by SWAT or not because I didn’t attend the parade. However, if that is the case that is some nonsense. Why would the sheriff need SWAT at the MLK parade? I have seen two African Americans that held the positions of chief and assistant chief who worked for Tampa PD attend this event year after during their tenture and they were never shadowed by their SWAT. I can’t say that the sheriff is afraid of black people but I will say it doesn’t present a good image to the Africa American community, especially when he will need their votes when he runs again.

Last year at Gasparilla he had the same entourage so it wasn’t just for the MLK parade.

Not just the Sheriff, all of HCSO staff had a SWAT escort from the time they arrived at the parade until they left. What gives? Are they afraid of being out in public without a SWAT guy walking five steps behind them?
