    Colina's failure

Colina's problems stem from 1 thing: turning a blind eye to what everyone else sees.

1: never disciplining Ortiz for the dozens of complaints he has against him

2: failing to open criminal and IA investigations into Lugo and the running of the FOP as well as the election

3: Placing people with ZERO experience in positions that they are not capable of managing and allowing them to remain there.

4: His love affair with the media

5: Ignoring the actions by Max Valdez

Why does this surprise you? The chief is a puppet for city hall and he has his marching orders. The same as the rest of us. I know this is going to get a whole lot of backlash but when the so called drunk was here. This place FINALLY became a police department again. Look how far we dropped after he left??? City hall needs to wake the he!! up and bring in another outsider, with proven experience and let him or her, appoint staff members and look into all these so called special unit and the favors they do and get from the F&F people and take control of transfers. This place needs to be gutted, starting from the top down! It will never happen, cause to much will come to light and city hall can't afford, for the public to see just how much they are responsible for and how stupid they really are. With trying to run the day to day operations of a now minor police department. Sh!t rolls downhill, so the department at the direction of city hall, will serve up a few officers to get the media attention back to where they can control it again.

Guys---do you think Colina wants to babysit? He was picked for the job- you weren't, so while constructive criticism is good and helpful to him the bottom line comes from managing behaviors. A good leader knows his staff, sits with them, meets them, knows them as well as the citizens---putting the right cops in the right neighborhoods should be a two way street - but behavior can jump the rails and then what? damage control has to happen. Its not planned, but he has to deal and a good leader takes each case and deals. This is part of the job. He is doing this. We see it.

There are always improvements and its great to hear the feedback. He is a very good leader given the misbehaviors that are occurring. What to do with misbehaviors in the rank and file? get in line or get out---end of story.

    Sir,
The kids are fighting again. Sorry, but all the other babysitters have quit - you're our last hope.
    What do we do now?
