    Why No Stop Sticks?

Did anyone in a position of authority ever think of using stop sticks? Once you take away their toys, many of which are stolen or unregistered, the thugs will flee and it will be over.

Ok, even though I'm a silver badge like you, I think I can speak for those in a position of authority when I say: "you're a ****ing retard" think about what you just said, I hope you have stop sticks, and by all means please use them on the next motorcycle you see fleeing. When you're soon unemployed, were better off without you.

A poster from Miami P D's forum asked the same question; read below:

"Are nail chains and nail boards out of the question?" Below is the response:

"Yes! Such tool is there to stop a violent fleeing felon! Historical example: Authorized by MDPD Police Division Chief, "[officers] eventually used [borrowed Hialeah P. D.'s] spikes to blow out a tire and stop the truck at 183rd Street and 27th Avenue in Miami-Dade County."

That was a US Postal "truck." You don't use stop sticks to stop a speeding motorcycle, unless your intent is not caring if someone dies.

    Stop Sticks.

Read the policy, you can only use this (GREAT TOOL)!!!
On four wheeled (regular) type vehicles. And a person must commit a
violent felony.....and only then thereafter you can request to use them. A SGT or higher ranking officer has to okay the deployment.

Not even buses!!! Or any large Multipassenger vehicles.
No bikes, no ATV, no motorcycles, no anything unless it’s a dam car, truck....
just a FYI, these tire deflation devices do not blow out tires at all... a small peace of a metal hollow cylinder type needle remains within the tire to allow a controlled deflation...

Could you in fact in theory use them on a 4-wheeled ATV yes... but do to the fact after the tire was deflated, these people would continue to drive like ass h...es, which in turn would cause a crash the minute one of the operators made that sharp turn with a flat.....

However, the policy does need some changes, because when it was wrote the stop sticks used back then were the large metal spikes. (Thous are not in use anymore).. and the new devices allow for a complete control deflation without any; blow outs!

Yes they piss cops off but riding these things, in general on roadways in only a (CIVIL OFFENCE).. unless the operator drives reckless.
And yes you can use the bullshit, of not being registered along with it. But until legislation is changed to read (the operation of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) upon any highway or roadway would be classified as a misdemeanor of the first or second degree). All you have is a civil citation if the ATV/BIKE is decaled as a ROV..

The policy’s & laws need to be changed to allow officers to take full action on people that cause this type of chaos!!!

Take a look up north, people in those Counties know the sheriff & SAO will lock you up for 6 months for doing this type of stuff.
In DADE the charge just seems to vanish. Lol.

    - I recommend legislation be implemented by the County commissioners to make it a misdemeanor, for the operation of ATV’s on paved roadways/highways.

Remember guys, the state laws surrounding ATV’s, specifically states the County can and should implement laws of such nature regarding the operation of these vehicles, on their roadways throughout their jurisdictions....

(PBA/OFFICERS: lets start a bill to the commissioners of this County to make it a criminal offense to operate these vehicles. Then maybe we can bring it to the State level...

    Be safe
