Other qualified candidates were contacted, but declined to consider taking the job. Kinda of tells us taking the helm of BSO fraught with too many issues for a two year appointment. . Unfortunately Sheriff In Broward is too political. Just look at the last three holders of the office. Greg Toney will succeed or fail based on who he promotes and relies on. History has taught us that.

    More BS

I really dont care that Israel is gone, and whatever with the Coral Springs Sgt being appointed. I do agree that its pure BS that this parent Andy Pollack and His son act like idiots coming on the news filled with hatred saying they are going after the sheriff and sup. If anything they most likely are contributing to the fact that israel will win his job back because the governor and andy pollack both said several times it was a promise made during the campaign and well before the commission even had any findings! it sucks what happened to these parents and you can understand grieving but come on this hunter pollack kid running around bragging how he is cleaning up BSO and works out with sheriff tony? What kind of BS is that?

Glad that we have a new sheriff. It breaks the continuity of the disastrous culture that has prevailed under SI amazing leadership. What a joke.

Seargent or not, his rank today equals the old emperors rank and he is making the moved to consolidate his leadership team to run that $h thole of an agency. Anything to recapture respect in the community will be an improvement because right now, BSO has none. That will take time and performance that earns the respect of our community even though the political leadership in Broward is recognized nationally as a mess.

We are a product of all the transplants and like most pond scum, we have bubbled to the surface of the national discussion.

Thankfully our new governor is a man of his word. Good luck

It will happen too. Funny all the posts about the nerve of some residents to butt in to the affairs of the agency; as if the agency's purpose and mission is to serve it's employees. Deputies deserve a raise and better benefits and hopefully the new Sheriff with some encouragement that is coming (from FixIt) will do just that. Good morale is good for all, and no, cops are not overpaid.
Now, that being said, lets be clear. The agency is here to serve the customer-the public. That uniform you wear, that radio, that unit that you drive, that helicopter- it's the property of the taxpayer and the services provided are not a favor; they're owed. I saw a deputy wearing a body camera ask a resident " Why are you taking a picture of MY unit? When you're talking about folks being out of line, it works both ways.

You are incorrect. Al Lamberti didn't make it too political they made it personal. Then an animal challenged him in the 2008 primary and lost thus becoming a vindictive, egomaniac that was responsible for creating division and racism in BSO. He not only destroyed the lives of his 3 kids by letting them smoke dope with school board members but pushed his newfound liberal agenda on others, destroying the lives of peaceful, innocent citizens, and proceeding to ruin the futures of good, well-behaved children by giving passes to the criminals while the voiceless had to deal with their BS because little criminals "don't know better" and "can't control themselves" and need "special attention" or they were told they were little racists, bigots, or nazis. In the end, it only cost him his career. his family, and 17 lives, no big deal, he's running for sheriff again, he doesn't get it.

Very true. lots of comments about "this is what parkland wanted" or "they brought it on themselves" TWO of the sets of parents of the dead kids are leftist democrats' only TWO. These kid who were merit scholars, musicians and Olympic hopefuls were NOT the kids of parents who had contact with law enforcement and had asked for special treatment. Those residents were the parents of the problems. And yep, those bad kids came first.

[QUOTE=Unregistered;2967877]I hope the media wakes up and sees what is going on here. the new governor is allowing this parent (andy pollack and his idiot son) to make decisions they have no business making. as sad as the loss of their daughter is, it certainly does not qualify them to make a mockery of this agency. the little punky kid hunter, appraently has know "sheriff tony" for years and for some reason the new governor has allowed this family to call shots they have no business making. they now started companies and non-profits to make money off the deaths of their children, which im sorry, that is sick!! mourning is one thing, the way andy pollack talked about how "he got rid of israel and now will get rid of runcie" is sickening. what makes these parents experts in active shooter.
    /QUOTE]

I could not agree with you more. I have been shaking my damn head since Desantis' press conference on Friday when "andy pollack and his idiot son" were allowed to speak. I was so damn confused.

WHO made a mockery of the agency?
We're well on the road to better days. Most appreciate of the governor, the 534 IUPA, Jeff, the Pollacks, some of the other families, the fixit people, the hillbillies, the cartoonist who added some comic relief and everyone else who helped expose that big eared fool until he was shown the door.
The Pollack's didn't make you look bad; the former Sheriff did.

Sheriff Tony? Who knows, but anything would be better than what we had.
