I am in no way condoning what took place. Desecration of any faith goes against ethics and tolerance for freedom of faiths.
But, when a 13 year LEO makes a vital error in judgement, additional corrective action should be required before final action is taken.
Similar to when criminals are caught and punished, resent and hate and blame ensue.
So, besides losing his job, he now leaves and may harbor further hate for the jewish faith that he may view as the 'cause' for the loss of his job.
No one wants this harboring to occur, bc then the Leo community may now have a new problem from not taking interim corrective action before his firing.

What would be proper for interim action?
Did he apologize to the jewish leadership in our community? (we know Colina did that) Did he offer to make reparation to the jewish community in any small way? Was there any sincerity to the acknowledgement of this mistake?

Anti Semitism is wrong. But, more than that, when one makes a poor judgement, a moment of bad taste, illegal or not, proper reflection and genuine reparation should be required before the final outcome of the case. This not only opens the pathway for acceptance of the wrong, but also helps prevent hatred that can permeate following the outcome.

Forgiveness helps an individual grow in judgement and error. Chief Colina, we hope police policy will be changed to include these restorative actions during the investigative process. We would not want to lose anymore seasoned officers who need corrective education and obvious sensitivity training. This should be required either by covert integrity auditing or self-volunteering so we can heighten the professional integrity which may become lost over the term of policing.

This was an acceptable behavior within the FOP you know it.

This thread is not about ortiz douchebag. Your hatred of Ortiz blinds you. What they did do Destephan was plain wrong. If they did it to him, they'll do it to anybody. Max Valdez we see your DNA all over the crime scene. Sucks to be you.

This is nothing new from the city bowing down to media pressure or that from certain groups. What I got out of all this, is where certain ethics groups stand within the power vacuum of the community. We all have personal views on his actions. DUMB yes, but the departments hands were tired! Reason, I say this is the 3 whom got childish, with their comments over blacks. So, if they let this slide Opps on the city.

Javi, knows where the bodies are, As the saying goes. After all Javi has done and is still here, it wasn't the FOP that covered for him. It was city hall and staff. One should NOT be punished for what other do all the time and get away with it. Were all accountable for our actions, at least that's the way it is in the real world. Not the 3rd world of Miami P.D... Miami has become the new capital of Cuba. Our city and department seems to have followed Castro's way of government and policing. Well close, we have yet to line people up against the wall a blast them but it's a new year, so that could change. Miami's staff and city hall are reactive and honestly doesn't care what certain races have to say, unless it get's a lot of negative media attention.

Fat boy thought he could play with the big boys. I always knew that guy didn’t fit in the puzzle just like lugo. People are always waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
