His CSPD application asks were you ever arrested or given a Notice to Appear or Criminal Citation for a crime. His answer was NO.

Rsume’s dont always impress me. Usually, just a lot of fluff.

What I do like to see for the agency is real law enforcement experience, military background, real training experience.

Look at the prior sheriff Jenne’s and Isreal’s resume’s, wow! And look what we got from them!!!

We need a leader, that can lead.

I say give him a chance, his speech that he was a law enforcement officer not a politician sounds a lot better than his predecessor. His predecessors exit speech stated that bso had given out tons of food and housed the homeless, Wow! What an accomplishment...

In closing, take a breath and help make this work!

If it doesn’t work, have your union endorse a candidate you feel comfortable with for 2020.

And, don’t worry about Isreal winning in 2020 it will never happen.

Military background? Where? There is no record of him being in the military. He supposedly left school to go to the Marine Corps Officer candidates school, no record of that. Something isn't right.

100% agree. A resume with years of broad experience means nothing if the "leader" lacks character, integrity and insight. Back in the days of check writing, that offense was a minor slight. Besides, it seems that there are current BSO employees with far worse. We don't know what Sheriff Tony will bring; or not bring to BSO. What is impressive is the fact that he did not stand at the podium and express grandiosity or delusional greatness. He identified himself as a cop.

So, as we go forward, time will tell; and it won't take long. There are several months until 2020 to assess and evaluate the performance of this interim Sheriff. The goal is to have the right fit for the agency. We will be checking in with you to consider your comments with regard to how things are going. Your input is, and has been, most valuable in determining where change is needed. Morale is a major factor in our consideration as well. Our wallets are wide open for 2020. All you need to do is communicate.

One more thing. We are determined to at least clean up what we can. There were a few comments recently about residents requesting special favors from commissioners with deputies disciplined and or transferred to other districts for doing their jobs. Some claimed this to be untrue. Based on some of the leg work that we have been doing, we believe that this has taken place. This is a small enough community to nip that in the bud. Going forward, if this takes place, don't keep it a secret. If there is a particular commissioner who is engaging in this abuse of power, we will work to expose them and get them out. We recognize that police often have a thankless job; and that this past year has been very difficult. There were many acts of heroism February 14, before that day, and after that day by the rank and file. We thank you for what you do everyday.

It was such a minor slight that he was charged with it! Integrity? Character? This is the best you can find? You rightly criticized the previous Sheriff for bringing in unqualified people ie. sergeants to majors, don't excuse it now!

The charge was also dropped, but I guess you don't want to report on that?

Please go back and re-read your post. You seem to be suggesting that the traits of character and integrity are in the same league as a good haircut or a shiny new vehicle.

    Character counts. A lot.

    You must be a millennial....

Back in the days of checks, this could happen pretty easily and did happen often to decent people. Sometimes a bank had a hold on a check and you could think that a check had cleared. Usually, this would occur when a person was in between residences,or was away on vacation. The bank would send a letter that sat in the mailbox and thee next thing you know; ut...oh, the police are at the door. Before everything was all electronic, this was an embarrassing reminder to many to keep a closer eye on their balance. Most of these charges were dropped quickly. It was as serious as a citation for expired tag. No biggie.

Plus, it's not as bad as being court ordered to take a paternity test and being proven a heartless jerk. Yeah, character counts.
