Here is a learning lesson. If you retire from here, don’t come back. If you survived your 25 or 30 year career from the criminals and the administration, why would you put yourself in jeopardy? If you are getting close to retirement, please find a hobby for your retirement. Don’t be one of these guys that has nothing going for themselves and has to be coming back to law enforcement. Go enjoy your retirement.
Theses guys are nothing without wearing the uniform. This is their identity.

JP was just arrested. Should’ve stayed retired and away from this place.

If it doesn't tick you must acquit
This is from the statute:
“Hoax bomb” means any device or object that by its design….appears to be…..a destructive device.
This is from the Sheriff’s agency wide email at 1522:
“Based on the package, the device’s appearance and the K9 search, we do not believe the device is an actual explosive device and we do not believe anyone at the SAB is in harm’s way.”
Pops is NOT guilty.

Key phrase is "appears to be", not weather is turned out to be a real bomb or not. The toy is actually designed to look like a bomb so, it "appears" to be one. What are the police unions always saying? "They have to consider it from the officers perspective." Well, apparently the Lt. thought it looked real so I guess this policy is going to backfire on the arrested deputy. Unless he wants to testify that it really didn't look like a bomb to him and he was just kidding calling in the bomb threat.

What was the intent? A laugh from a gag. There was no intent to give anyone the impression this was a real destructive device. This was a child’s toy. Any fool who would try and articulate it appears to be a destructive device will get laughed out if court. I’d demand speedy trial and trial by jury. This was a bullshit arrest to make a point. What is the deal with kicking people on the way out the door? No Sheriff before has fired this many deputies, ever.
