Any deputy's file is all in one place. What's so hard about pulling it out of the drawer and putting it on the counter to let the person requesting it look at it? Where is the $400 fee coming from? Fraud? Cover up? Scam? It is actually a crime under Title X, Chapter 119 to intentionally not provide the records.

Ok. You have a right to the file. They facilitate this by making a copy of it for you. Paper is not free and printer costs are not waived by the law. By the way, no one cares what title that chapter falls under, that doesn’t make you sound any smarter. And if you think you have a case hire a lawyer or call FDLE. The public has the legal right to see the ACTUAL file. Not a copy. The public should not be charged for copies they did not ask for, did not take and didn't have to be made. When I go to the library and ask for a book, do they hide the book in the back and make a copy of it and then charge me for making the copies to read?

If they are worried that somebody will try and steal the records, the law requires that they sit there and WATCH while the records are inspected and copied. Funny how you officers of the law never seem to know what the laws actually say. Do they train you to be that stupid or does it come naturally?


119.07 (1)(a) Every person who has custody of a public record shall permit the record to be inspected and copied by any person desiring to do so, at any reasonable time, under reasonable conditions, and under supervision by the custodian of the public records.


119.021 (3) Any public official who causes a record book to be copied shall attest and certify under oath that the copy is an accurate copy of the original book. The copy shall then have the force and effect of the original.

(d) Photographing of public records shall be done in the room where the public records are kept. If, in the judgment of the custodian of public records, this is impossible or impracticable, photographing shall be done in another room or place, as nearly adjacent as possible to the room where the public records are kept, to be determined by the custodian of public records. Where provision of another room or place for photographing is required, the expense of providing the same shall be paid by the person desiring to photograph the public record pursuant to paragraph (4)(e).

They cannot simply "plop them down!" There is no physical file l, everything is scanned and put on a virtual file. You have to go down there and navigate through the compute file. Also, there is some information contained in that virtual file which is not for dissemination. This required someone in human resources to go through and select then print the info. To summerize... you are a dumbass!
